Mixing uppers and lowers - colour mismatch?

Anyone ever had any troubles with colour mismatch when mixing uppers and lowers from different manufacturers?

Bushmaster is specific about the color they use (Hard Anodize Military A8625, Type III, Class 2 finish - lusterless, flat, approximate Black No. 36118 Table IX). I could not find similar information for other vendors.
 
i'll tell ya right now that my LMT 10.5 upper dont match the LMT lower at all.

When the gun isnt oiled up you can really see how the upper is a deep black, while the lower is a greyish black. When its all oiled up its indefferent though.

Doesn't bother me at all.

My Socom Lower looks medium grey against the Black of my Armalite upper. It looks stupid.

I am going to have to paint it now. (or the paper targets won't respect me :))

Hmm... Interesting. And when you add to it a magazine that's yet another colour... I guess it doesn't really matter a great deal.
 
don't anyone mention the purple bushmasters eh... I had 2 of them and they really had that purple tinge to them.... so even though a manufacturer may spec one thing there is going to be colour variences between each and every batch anodized/coloured.

even day to day differences....

why anyone who wasn't running around in the desert activily shooting at someone would do this to their rifle is beyond me. there is a guy selling an ar on here that posted yes its painted, no that doesn't drastically reduce its value. I tend to disagree, for a range warrior gun, it sure does. If you have a hunting gun, and wan't to camoflage it, sure, but not a $2000 range gun.

Are you people shooting the f*cking things or admiring them like a piece of jewelery? They're tools, use them like one and move on with life. An all matching deep blued/parkerized rifle with zero scratches is either new or belongs to a poser. Either way, there aren't many females in the sport to impress and most don't give a sh*t. Unless you're trolling for sausage you're wasting your time colour matching your kit.

I personally prefer it if/when the receivers match in colour. However as pointed out, the colours can be different with every manufacturer. Defending on how the anodizing was done, and the after finish, ie. paint and bake.
The purpleish colour experienced by Bushmaster was as a result of the tempering/heating of the receivers. Either in the manufacturing or the anodizing.

Most companies do apply a spray and bake finish after the black anodizing, and that would ensure the finish is matched perfectly. The do it yourself kits work just fine.

Colt's old light grey colour was from the same spray and bake over black anodizing and that colour varied quite a bit from rifle to rifle.

Some manufacturers have left out the paint finish and just leave it with the hard coat anodize, but that too is dependent on which lot the rifle came from, on colour match as even the anodizing can produce different shades of black.

Diemaco used to do the black anodize and black paint that had a slight grey tint to it. The paint finish over the anodize is seen as an additional protective finish.
 
So what does the Norinco paint over Parkerized over Anodized do? (I didn't even know you could Parkerize Aluminum)
