I passed my P.A.L. exams on Saturday, Feb.7 and was told by the instructor that I will receive a copy of my results (from CFO, I guess) by mail. 10 days later, I'm still waiting.

Could someone please tell me how long does this process usually take? TIA.

My instructor said roughly 3 weeks, but I had the results in 9 business days.

And yeah, they are coming from the CFO. The Ontario CFO has to stamp them.

The Ontario CFO in his almighty obstructionist position has decided that all exams have to be verified by the CFO office to root out fraudulent tests.

Wasn't there some cases where guys who were not accredited instructors doing the courses, which is what led to the CFO putting in the requirement for stamping the results?

That may be a good reason for checks, but shouldn't these checks be done as part of P.A.L. application processing? Surely, there's plenty of time to do those in 60+ days.

I got my results back within 2 weeks from Ontario CFO. Now if you are so worried about the license. Mine took 6 months to get back to me. I had to Call RCMP and tell them what was going on. They forwarded me to orillia cfo. The lady went in the back room and came back on the phone and told me my application has just been approved and it will be there in 2 weeks. got that in about 2 and 1/2 weeks lol.

My restricted transfer is what is brutally slow. I have had my membership at my club for almost 2 months and am still waiting on my ATT to come through. So that means the 2 months i have paid for i cannot even shoot for. i cannot start my probabtion hours or anything. so by the time renewal comes around. I will just be finishing haha

all together. there are way to many agencies in my eyes working on these things. to many people that just push these things under the mat for a better day to come.

just my .02

I think I was told by the club that I may do the club safety course & start my probationary shoots as soon as I send my P.A.L. application. I could then use the club guns while waiting for my P.A.L. Judging by your experience, perhaps I misunderstood...

P.S. I'm also applying for both PAL & RPAL.

Since September of 2007 the Ontario CFO has required that instructor NOT give a copy of the course report to students. Everything goes directly to the CFO. I Expresspost the course paperwork to the CFO the day after the course and students usually report getting their copies back from the CFO in just under four weeks. Over the holidays there was a batch that took six weeks for the CFO to turn it around.

I challenged the exams Feb 1.
The paperwork came in the mail from the CFO today. That's 3 weeks 3 days.

I was pleasantly surprised.

My PAL/RPAL application is going out tomorrow.

Just curious if anyone has sent their applications to the CFC without the results - I remember seeing a "results attached" box - I assume the ontario CFO forwards results to the CFC anyways, no?

No.

The instructor sends your tests to the Ontario CFO. The Ontario CFO stamps the course report (test results), returns them to you, and YOU send them with your app and photo.

Ontario - I got mine in about 4 weeks. That was for my RPAL challenge about 6 weeks ago. It will probably be another 4 more weeks until my license arrives. The total round trip will be 10 weeks from start to finish. Hurry up and wait...
