Hi why dont you have the BBL's set back a tread and redo the chambers.
Not the best for $$'s but you end up with rifles you can trust.
Just a thought.

I'll give you $400 for it.:)

I've seen this problem before. The answer is actually pretty straight-forward. I learned it from a friend of a friend of mine:

All you have to do is look closely at the left hand side of the receiver. Check it closely for the symbol "R-e-m-i-n-g-t-o-n". If you see that, it means the rifle is eternally flawed, and there is nothing you can do about it. Basically it is no better than scrap metal at that point.

Hopefully such a thing isn't to be found, but if it is, sorry about your luck.

Tired of that sluggish, irritating bolt release on your 700? Try our "extra" heavy-duty bolt stop spring! Eliminate primer flow and cratering with our custom firing pin. Oversized tip allows you to fit the pin tip to hole in the bolt for precise alignment without slop. The sides of the pin are machined to reduce weight. This set is ordered by Gunsmiths across the US and it's available for both long and short action weapons!

I work for a company owned by CD&R, the previous owners of Remington who had the company for many years. I'm quite sure they did to remington what they have done to us. Close 90% or more of American factories and then import crap from China....

Its,,,, Captain Kirk,,,,, on the,,,internet,,,,

Regarding the rifle, you have my sympathies. FWIW - all companies seem to be intent upon reducing manufacturing cost to the lowest possible acceptable value. In this case, they're hoping that 90% of purchasers wouldnt notice this defect. And the 10% that do get told to f,,,, off.

I am curious, other than cosmetic reasons, what problem did you have?

Did you miss the target?
Did it misfire?
Did any primers "leak?

It is annoying to look at and I don't know why Remington is making them that way, but I have been told it is intentional...? At any rate Remington will do nothing as there is nothing to fix, it functions fine with factory ammo. It you blow primers with a reload, that is your problem, not Remingtons... maybe this is a lawyer designed feature... like the heavy triggers from the factory settings...

Does it look like this? These were fired from a Rem that's 28 years old...And its killed a ####load of deer...

my last Rem 700 did that, 280 Remington 700 LSS. was a very accurate rifle. Its just a cosmetic bump on the primer.....

Sounds to me like you are throwing the baby out with the bath water....

If it really bothers you a gunsmith could tune it up.

All my newer remingtons do the same thing, if you compare your bolt face to that of another brand, you will notice that the firing pin hole on the remington bolt is chamfered and the others arent. The chamfer is allowing the metal on the primer to flow into it regaurdless of pressures.
