Hi, i have 4 taurus guns now, PT-99, PT-92 Compact, raging Bull 6 1/2" .44Mag and on the way a 24/7 Pro. Needless to say i'm a big fan of Taurus and have never had any issues. Just wanted to hear about any of your Taurus experiences and if any of you have those harder to find Taurus restricted guns?

I used to own a stainless .44mag Raging Bull, never had any issues. Now I have a PT1911 and had it for about 11 months now again no isuues, one of my favourite guns in fact :)

Still kicking myself in the ars for selling the .44 :( and one day I'm going to get a 5" .454 version.

PT917 is another guns I want to get as well as their new PT 845

I have a Taurus PT99, I broke the rear sight and had a terrible time getting a replacement for it. Now I'm afraid to shoot it for it might break again. I just sold my Raging Bull in 454 Casull. Barrel was pitting on the outside, sight had a little rust mark. Never shot it out doors, don't know why it was rusting. Cleaned after every outing as there long periods between shooting, and left it well oiled.

I won't buy another.

I don't own any taurus guns as of yet as I am new to restricted status. I have their new catalog though and the 1911s look interesting. Anyone got experience with them and know of a dealer in Canada?

I have a Taurus model 86 .38 and it is a decent revolver. It has a nicer trigger than my 686 and the blueing is a deep dark navy blue. I hear their customer service is crap though.

My Taurus "experience"....

Over the years I've seen numerous models for sale, usually at very attractive prices, but have chosen not to buy any..... :p

Happened to me as well at the range with a pt-99....what the heck where did that rear site go???LOL

I'll never forget walking into P&D and asking to see a BRAND NEW Raging Bull. The salesman was singing the praises of Taurus guns and lowand behold the pin holding the rear site to the frame was sticking out a half inch and I said don't worry I'll fix it for you and a pushed it back in. We had one hell of a laugh as he put it back under the counter.

I'll pass on them unless there is a steal of a deal on the EE.

I have a Taurus 357 that works great. It did break once (transfer bar), but I got the parts from the USA pretty easily and fixed it.

Just bought a .22 9-shot revolver that I'm looking forward to trying out.

I've got a PT99 that I'm happy with, bit the rear site did decide to let go one day. I reasembled with a new roll pin and it's been good to go ever since. I really like the looks of the PT1911, almost bought one the other day. I think there was talk of a new Canadian distributor a while back, hopefully that helps with the spare parts shortage.
Oh yeah, I don't think I would ever sell my PT99!

Poison experience in my instance. A friend had a 6 inch barrelled 357 DA revolver in his possession. We shot it one day at a range in Northern Ontario.

Every few rounds (7-10 rds) light primer strike. Not inspiring.

I have gotten light primer strikes and failures to fire with my S&W 686, too. Do you find 686s uninspiring also? Because that is a problem that’s very easily addressed, change or readjust the hammer spring.

Old Taurus handguns were cheaper versions of Beretta semi autos and S&W revolvers. Some revolvers weren't so good, that’s true, the semis were much better. I can't speak for the new revolvers, I haven't fired any, but the new semi autos are just as good, if not better than the old ones were.

I used to own a PT99AF and, although I didn't get to fire as many rounds with it as I’d have liked, it never gave me any problems. I found it more comfortable in my hands than the Beretta 92, the S&W autos of the 80's and 90's, the original CZ75 and even the much more expensive Sig 226. It was easier to shoot and control than all of those others, just as accurate as the Sig but easier to control in rapid fire, it had better trigger reach than the Beretta 92 and was way ahead of any semi auto S&W had at the time.

That been said, they are still cheaper made guns than a Sig or and Italian made Beretta, and to me not worth the price they go for here in Canada. But, if I had a good deal on one, I’d buy it. After all, we use our guns only for fun here. If I was buying it for more serious business, I think I’d go with a Sig.

as I mentioned in my original reply I have a stainless PT1911 and pretty happy with it...I think mine was from the first shipment that made it to the country... it's a one ###y gun ;) any dealer should be able to get one for you (if the destributor has one in stock).

Taurus 1911

Actually, the Taurus 1911 is the only model from the entire line that I would even consider owning. At least if it screwed up & one couldn't get satisfaction from the Taurus warranty supplier in Canada any issue would be a quick fix with the plethora of after market 1911 parts available.

I would never consider owning a Taurus just because of lack of warranty work. By the way, this said revolver was BRAND NEW, not old by any means. That's a terrible way to make a reputation. The title of this thread is what I was directly answering.

To each his own..........

The Taurus 1911's seem to have some issues. The thumb safety falls off or breaks as well as fit, finish and reliability issues. I had a chance at a blued Non-railed Taurus 1911 at $674 all in to my door and just could not do it after researching them online.

I had no issues with my 24/7 in 9mm. Nice light compact 9 and restricted only.

I have a model 76 (.32 long) & it's a fantastic gun. Never an issue with it, & quality is great. Blue is rich, it's tight & smooth, & accurite. It's truely a fun gun. Too bad we couldn't hunt with them, it would make for a good small game gun....:)

My S&W model 14-4 & my Taurus....

Still, the point is, between a Taurus and S&W wheelgun, I'd take the S&W every day of the week....

BTW, beautiful S&W Model 14......
