I was in the market for a 22 rimfire and chose the Mossberg 702 21" brl s/s. After searching FirearmsCanada Dealer web sites, Wholesale Sports were the out-right winner price-wise.

Wholesale Sports $149.95
Frontier Firearms $209.95

With a 5% Tax that works out to $63.00

I find this disturbing how easy it is to rip the consumer off, I just saved myself $63.00

The price on the website may or may not be correct. I've bought several items from WS lately and the price was different then the catalog.

Yeah, crap man check out the pricing for bullets. Some of their bullets in 308 are selling for $1ea (projectiles not loaded cartridges that is). Russells pricing is pretty good but WS sucks for reloading ####e. No deals there fer sure.

Devil's advocate.

I'd happily support FF ahead of WS...

X 2.

Wholesale is a large company with a *mixed* reputation for service/quality. Marlin at Frontier Firearms is an upstanding individual, knowledgeable and very easy to deal with. I bristle at the term rip-off/gouging when it is applied to him. IMHO, Frontier has my full confidence and that's worth a little extra in the price.

I think that most ppl learn to appreciate that price is not the only factor in firearms purchases. YMMV.

Yup WSS has the lowest price..... but do they actually have the firearm you want? If they don't the price may be different when they do get it......

Personally I HATE WSS!!!

I've tried to order from them and when they did have the stuff I wanted (not very often) they sent the wrong stuff. I ordered a .22 mag & they sent me a .40 Pistol mag...... Then they wanted me to ship it back @ my cost!!!

If you can go into a store in person, the service may suck, but you will know with-in a coupla min if they have it, if you order on-line, you may find out in 1 to 2 weeks.....

Personaly I'd go with Frontier....

I don't think its a matter of rip off, more likely just a matter of he who buys more gets a better deal. I'm sure WSS has more buying power than FF and therefore pays less for them. As others have said, service is worth something too and it appears you'll find alot more people complaining about WSS than FF in that regard.

x2 for me too.

I've dealt with WSS once, and later reading many people having bad experiences with them, found myself very lucky to have had an uninterrupted transaction and get what I ordered from them.

Marlin and his crew are great to deal with!

I will support those that support us, it only seems fair ;)

I find it disturbing how people think it is our job to sell at a loss. Any firearm that is paid for in US dollars is now 1.27 x higher then it was from last years price. Try going to the bank and see if they will trade you $100 USD for $100 CAD. If Wholesale has last years stock and that price is correct (most items on their website are shown at last years price and most is sold out), that is good for them and good for you.

We on the other hand turn our inventory over aprox every 90 days, so everything from last years prices is gone. Wholesale does not include free shipping, we do. And if your order is aproved it is shipped out the next day and you are emailed a tracking number, not 2 weeks later. We do not put you on hold and have a recording tell you 10 mins later to leave a message or call back. As a smaller operation we do not have to make you wait 10 mins to find your order, it can be done in 30 seconds. Look at details before accusing us of ripping people off. We did not grow the point of selling 2000+ firearms a year by taking advantage of people.

The difference in price is most likely old stock price compared to new stock price. I help out in a gun shop and I see prices on new centerfire rifles going up $100 to 200 on new stock. I'm telling people that come in that if they see something on the rack that interests them, buy them now or they may pay a lot more later.

I compared one rifle we had in stock to the WSS price and we were over $100 cheaper just because our rifle was old stock.

Yes the item is in stock and if the firearm was purchase prior to the Canadian loony taking a dive, thats my point, shop around and save.

I would pay the extra $60 (with free shipping so more like $35) and buy from Frontier also. Great guy to deal with. Truely amazing that WSS had it in stock. More the exception than the norm.

Just an FYI, WSS owns Russells Sports.

That explains why the prices were the same when i was looking at the guns on saturday. I've been to WSS and Russells and have also ordered (scope) from Frontier. I have enjoyed my interactions with all 3. Still dont know where i'll buy my first rimfire from though, I'm sure it'll come down to who has it in stock :)

Sometimes it just sucks being an impulse buyer..
