So I am new to the sport. I bought a S&W MP9 last year. The 1911s are growing on me. I am currently looking at Kimbers and Para 1911s.

I love the look of the black slide and the silver barrel. Would you guys recommend kimber or para?

I had an M&P and then went to a Kimber Warrior... I loved it...

I would take a Para almost last if I had the choice... Wait for the 1911 guys chime in, there are lots of really nice quality guns.

Dan Wesson, STI... and so on. Just depends on what you are willing to spend.

Thanks guys.. I dont want to spend toooo much. I dont get to go out and shoot alot, but im hoping to change that. im looking to get something and "bling" it out. Bling meaning simple mods, not the flame painted glock I saw in a thread haha

Can you guys recommend a good vendor for Dan Wesson and/or STI?

Kimber, Springfield, STI, DW and Colt all make good 1911's that will serve you well.

At the end of the day tho I always seem to end up back with Springfield.

I just saw a thread about someone asking about the difference between the DW Valor and the Springfield TRP.

the valor looks ###y.. but to me.. I like the look of the Springfield more.

Do you guys know how much the Springfield will set me back?

One went up for sale on the EE a couple days ago and sold in about 10 minutes. If I remember right he was asking $1100 and that included a handful of Wilson mags. Unless you're really lucky a good used one will probably be a couple hundred more than that.

you choices are only limited to what the dealers have in stock. do as i did. email every single dealer in canada and tell them you want a 1911 in 45. tell them to give you a price list and pick from there. cuz after you spend time (in my case 6 months) looking for a 1911 that you want. you'll find NO ONE HAS THAT MODEL IN STOCK across canada. i ended up doing the email thing and pick out the one suits me best. and stay close to Pistol Exchange forum. i missed more than a few good deals there

Do yourself a favour, and avoid STI. I had problems with a Spartan, and traded up to a Ranger 2. It also has some problems, mainly trigger mechanism. They're overpriced, and overrated.

My pistol is a Kimber, and Its all I need..

Buy yourself a Kimber, you Will NOT be disapointed... Para also has some great hardwear but i dont own one
