I am looking to buy a .50 BMG, but am not sure of average reloadings costs. Once a guy has a fair supply of brass on hand, what is the average cost per reloaded round (excluding the cost of brass)?

Thanks

If you plan to feed it pulled surplus bullets about $4.00 per shot not including the bras cost, if yoy plan to shoot Amaxs or other match type projectiles about $8.00 per shot.
Keep in mind that 50 brass does not last like smaller caliber casings do, to get 5 reloading from 50 cal brass is doing well.
The looser the chamber the less brass life is.

I have just found a 45 pound drum of IMR 5010 that I picked up at the factory when I was loading 50 cal commercially. It is still sealed. I assume that at $20/pound, it would make loading cheaper for someone. Would make a good group purchase for soem guys that shoot together.

Also have the big Rockchucker and a set of dies I no longer need.

depends how many shots you shoot :slap:

My question implied that whoever answers include the amount of ammo they throw downrange.

if you have to ask, you cant afford it. dont worry, neither can I :(

Although 100 - 200$/weekend is not completely out of my range, I'd rather spend that kind of coin on ale and whores. BUT, to each their own, and there seems to be a fair amount of people that get a blast out of 50's, so let them have at it. :yingyang:

I saw some projectiles today at P & D enterprise and I think they were going for $50 for a box of 20. I could be wrong. Accuracy "something" was the brand.

Most likely Accurate Bullet Company bullets.
That IS cheap, as in below cost, you sure about the price? Not doubting you but for that $$ I would call P&D and get them , the ABC's are good bullets and shoot very well.

To some of us gun powder is like a drug, we are not happy unless there is that nice odour of burnt gunpowder present;)

Ganderite
You may want to check the powder has not deteriorated. 5010 was notoriuos for rapid deterioration and had an acid like reaction to metal. I had about 20 cans of it that were literally eaten through from the inside and the powder itself smelled horrible. Really choked me to toss out several hundred $$ worth of powder.
Hope this is not the case for you, but worth checking on.

Now surely you found something better to do with it than just throw it away.

Maybe something like extracting a few tree stumps:D or handy campfire starter on those rainy days.;)

Maybe even just to sprikle some on the fire every now and then, kind of like aroma therapy for gunnutz.

Gun powder should never be just thrown away!:( :D:D

It was in a lump that serious hammering was required to break up, the crap would not burn even, I tried:(

Theres always deals to be had on the EE for reloading components. I got my price down to $3.60 per round, I was even able to do amax's for a good price at about $6.00 per. The guy I used who seems to have a steady supply was techrat.... Hit up the EE you'll find your deal....

$80 per 20, with 20 primers, IIRC from a couple weeks back. (either $79, or $89 a box)

Too rich for a cheapskate like me! :D

Though I have considered tooling up to make stuff like that...

Cheers

Wait till you start playing with a 20mm like we were today.
$12.00 just for the bullet, then add 600 grains of powder.................

I was too busy shooting the bloody thing to take pictures.
Will see if my shooting partner took any.
