In Ontario it was legal till 1979. It was almost legal again in the '90's when the OHA/CSSA had almost convinced the Ontario Minister of Natural Resources to re-instate Handgun Hunting but the OFAH blocked the move.

Why did the OFAH vote against that, aren't they suppose to be on our side?
Prolly cause the vast majority of people cant hit the wide side of a barn with a handgun..
It takes knowledge of trigger control, and discipline, to accurately and lethally hit something past 20 yds.
Because the recent stopping power thread shows 6 rifle shots not killing a Leopard. I dont want people out there hunting with handguns. LOL.
Protection, sure.
Right tool for the job! Just like I don't want people framing houses with rocks instead of framing hammers.
Who said anything about handgun hunting for leopard in Canada?
Who gives a f**k what YOU want? The OP asked who would like to handgun hunt, not who knows what is best for others. And if someone wants to frame a house with a rock, what business is that of yours?
I'm not too concerned about handgun hunting at this point in time. I'm much more concerned with just being able to legally own a handgun in light of whats going on in central Canada these days.
