I've been looking at the S&W models 25 and 625, cant really find any other which are double action.

anyone know a dealer who carries them or other gunmakers who have a double action in that caliber?

Kanook, Redhawk in .45Colt are discontinued since 2007, and pretty scarce on the use market, I cant remember when I see one and I check a lot of web site. For the Super Redhawk, you can get one in .454Casull, and shoot the .45Colt too. But the gun is heavy and the shortest barrel, out of a custom jobs is 7½ inches.

I got a BlackHawk for now, at least , I can enjoy a great cartridge in an a excellent gun. I have the 4 and 5/8 barrel. great shooter!

Taurus makes a .45 Colt. The Smith makes their Model 25 and 625. The Redhawk only comes new with a prohibited barrel length. The SuperRedhawk in the low glare SS only. You might find a used one of any of 'em.

Just so you know, any revolver that's chambered in .454 Casull or .460 S&W Magnum will fire .45 Colt. Taurus, S&W and Ruger all make DA revolvers in at least one of those calibers.

I am getting my super redhawk chopped to 4.2" and the cost is not that bad, only $200.. so do not discount getting some custom work, just make sure to budget not having the gun for 6 months.

A Smith & Wesson 25-5

Yeah I knw what you guys mean. I'm budgeted with building my camp. My going is to get a .45 long colt lever rifle and handgun to share ammo

:D
Have a Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casull (7 1/2" barrel) which is really accurate shooting .45 Long Colt (the .454's parent cartridge).........it's a heavy sucker though !

I also have a .45 Long Colt Uberti Revolver Carbine (18" barrel) that is non-restricted & shoots very well.

I'd like a .45 Long Colt "short barrel" like the S&Ws shown on this thread....... unfortunately, even though I have a 12-6 RPAL, you can't buy new "short barrel" handguns in Canada any more since Bill C-68.

Some of the ultra light compact CCW orientated pistols & revolvers being sold in the USA are really nice but totally unavailable to Canadians.

Now that is cool, not what I'm looking for but very cool

:D
Real good shooter too with the target sights (which mine has & the one in the picture doesn't) but you have to be a contortionist to wrap your body around it to get a good sighting picture.

That stock wasn't made for comfort & those brass corners are needle sharp.

I had mine out to the range last Saturday & I couldn't complain about the 25 yard group size (6 shot - 3/4").

The Uberti in .45 Long Colt would definitely hunt deer at short range if nothing else was available.

I like guns that are: 1) good shooters, 2) comfortable, 3) purty.

The Uberti has lots of #1 and #3 but NONE of #2.

It's also the only non-restricted revolver I know about.

I'm looking to get a replacement stock for the thing so I can actually shoot it for an afternoon or take it hunting (being non-restricted is really, really nice!) without having to go into traction after.
