Hi-Point pistols

Does anyone have experience with this line of guns. I know they are cheap, but compared to a Norinco, are they a good deal. I am just looking for a cheap pistol in .40.

- I already have a glock.
- Yes I could spend more and buy a Ruger, another glock,etc.

I am just asking about quailty and reliability.

I haven't heard much about them since KO brought them in. I would like to know if they are still running solid after being used and abused. One in .45 would be neat.
 
From what I've read of people who purchased them recently, they seem reasonably accurate and enjoyable. I don't think they've been on the Canadian market long enough to assess durability. I would recommend you search some American forums for more info.
 
They're accurate, reliable, and cheap, but they have the looks and ergonomics of a turd. They get a bad rep around here for being a "n*gger gun" :)rolleyes:) but they're pretty decent for the price.

The warranty is apparently very good too, as Hi-Point stands behind their products. Dunno how that would translate up here though.

He's saying they sent him a replacement mag catch even though he'd bought the gun used.

This confirms what I've heard as well, that Hi-Point are very eager to get into the Canadian market and, as such, offer excellent customer service.
 
Decent shooting guns. No issue with mine so far in 4 months +-.

Not the nicest thing to hold or look at, but a good range beater or beginner's gun.
 
I think it was Peter, who made his look like it was at least the smartest kid on the short bus :p

Next to the Norinco $99 special, you're not going to find a cheaper project gun, so why not?

Go with the Norinco over a Hi-Point.

If you already have a Glock, why do you want a Hi-Point?
 
I just ordered one today, after exhaustive searching the net for actual user reports. Most if not all said that " not the prettiest, but rock solid in the reliability department" and most said something like "400 rounds , or 1000 rounds without a single FTF,FTE" and pretty accurate for the money. 2.75"-3.5" groups at 15 yards. Thats more than accurate enough for me. And when I reload for this, the groups might tighten up a half inch or so with some patience. This is the New Norinco M213 for the glock wannabe's. (I'm one of them).
I think that for the casual handgun shooter like me, this will be great. I mainly shoot .22 at the range (several handguns and rifles) plus I usually take at least one big centerfire rifle, but its nice to shoot a box or 2 of centerfire pistol occasionally. And I kinda like having guns that I know nobody else will have. And if it breaks down, who gives a crap. Its is 279 shipped to my door. With a new kid and 2 lemon vehicles, I just don't have the cash around to waste on an 800 dollar pistol that won't be used every time I go to the range.

They are kind of cool in a weird kind of way.
 
I thought so too. I usually end up with the most obscure examples of a certain caliber available. And not just to be different, these "wierd" looking guns just seem to strike a chord with me. Sucker I guess.
If I had the money, I'd pick up one of those Tisa's from Marstar, but presently, Kodiak outpost is my current "mack Daddy" for fun. By the way, I got superb and quick service from them. BUY FROM OUR SPONSORS!!!! (it doesn't hurt to throw a quick plug for our guys up top. They are the ones that keep my favorite site going) One of my biggest regrets is not finding CGN sooner than a year ago.
I will definately be posting a range report on mine when it comes. Its the .40 S and W.
I love "clunky" and boxy things. I guess thats why I still drive my jeep.

yeah, but my home computer crashed not long after I joined, and I was a long time getting another one. I didn't really spend much time online at all for much of the next 2 years. (mainly using friends computers for email, not a lot of surfing). Anyhow, its always exciting getting a new gun, no matter how cheap or expensive. I am stoked at the moment.
