Which hunting rifle do you love to hate?

Nothing uglier than a TC Encore or whatever those POS's are called now.

Uglier than a bulldog eating s**t off a hot stove.

I love the look personally, especialy the wood stocks. I find the idea of hunting with some commercial bolt-action kinda boring.... The all look the same, no character... Then again I've never owned one so... Milsurps all the way!! love my full-wood stock No1 MkIII with a mounted scope... 1" at 100yards with handloads. :D

I'm sick of seeing Remington and the like pumping out "Team Ninja Desert Recon Digital Camo Extreme Entry Tactical Weapons Systems" to every prepubescent pimple squeeezzer who graduates from playing x-box.

:dancingbanana:

And I almost forgot to mention:

Every time a bell rings an angel gets their wings. However, every time a bolt is closed on a 710 an angel gets set on fire.

I do like all the manufacturers for what they do well. But, I handled a 770 a few weeks ago and it's action felt horrible, simply horrible.

Anyway, for rifles I love to hate that I already own, I have a Savage 340 in 22 Hornet. It's got the oddest wandering zero problem, that I have never solved. I keep it, just to show folks at the range a rifle that can group just over an inch, then the next group will also be over an inch.....10 inches away from the first one.

Later Remingtons and the "they are great cause you got so many available parts to replace the parts that you already bought to make it work ..." line of reasoning.

Which ultimately leads to the: "Remington for sale - over $5,000 of new parts invested .....for $650.00"

My 2 cents:p

Anything in 30-30, why bother!

As someone else mentioned, Parker-Hale stocks, OUCH:mad: Remington 700 in .338 Rem Mag is pleasent to shoot next to a Parker-Hale .308

Enfields, It might be unpatriotic, but I'll take a Mauser instead.

Norinco, Chinese word for $hit.

MHO;)

I am a gun lover not a hater!

They all have there place in time, tikka, sako, rem, wins, ruger, on and on....I can find negatives or positives with most all but not enough to hate one. I perfer some over others gun style and fit, actions etc...

There are cartridges I have no use for , but even those are few and far between.

I supose if I had to pick a few the 710, I would never own, I am sure there are a few more but really the 710 would work if you needed it to, I have seen them shoot ok for hunting...the mossberg rifle ... either would never own one and again not because it would not work. Just not my style of firearm.

Why so many people hate 30-06? I just don't understand, as it's in my opinion a nice polyvalent cartridge...

Ghys
Damn, you made me look up "polyvalent". Interesting. I would have said the 30/06 is the SUV of the cartridge world. The 30/06 may be old but it gets the job done.

anything chambered in 270

there is no room in my collection for a 270, its got to be the most overrated cambering ever invented. Do everything Hrumph that just means does nothing particulary well.

:agree: It's kind of like almost a man's rifle, but it's too big for a girl! :stirthepot2:

I subscribe more to another posters view that hate is pretty strong, more like prefer less:

1. Newer Remington 700's, they just seem cheaply made - and the TRIGGER SUCKS.

2. Remington 710/770, cheaply made, where the green machine seems to be sending 700's.

3. Not real fond of levers, rather have a good bolt action.

1. Ruger. I won't own one.
2. Benelli. They must have a patent on ugly. I do own a Super Nova pump. It is the ugliest firearm to have ever graced the threshold of my safe.

check out the new for 09 Xmark Pro externally adjustable trigger. Has a little allen key in the top of the trigger face, the ones Ive played with get down to around 2.5 lbs with no creep.

Good post Jason.....do agree with you... :)

While they're very nice rifles, I couldn't stand any of the Blasers I've shot. Also, I've tried a few times to become a fan of Ruger #1's - but they just don't work for me.

Neither are as sucky as the Enfield, though.:nest:

:agree: :agree: X100%

They may be a good gun for some, but not for me. "I PLEDGE" to never own one.
Anything with a plastic or "flimsy" tin clip. Which, (never thought ild sasy it) the browning X-bolt. Handled one and gave it right back. JUNK. Never thought Browning would stoop so low.

I would rather pay for an enfied that keyholes than have a browning x-bolt given to me. And i own a few Brownings. levers and a-bolts.

just MHO

I agree totally. The 270 is larger than necessary for deer, and on the smallish side for elk and moose.

I love to hate the ruger 10/22. :nest:

With all of the accessories and mods that people do and brag about, it's over the top. Reminds me people who buy honda civics and slap on fart cans, fake hood scoops, underglow and whatever other stuff you can buy at canadian tire and the call it a race car :jerkit:
