That is all , no SBS for me but I love this thing. 8+1 . Loving your shotguns in the tac thread BTW.

It's an Uncle Mike's , but I can't remember the model off the top of my head . I'll check it out when I get home for you though.

Aand that's how a shotgunner should roll.

More ammo, fewer doo-dads.

If I need to grab this fella when things go bump in the night I can also grab a 50 round bandolier with 00 and slugs which lives right beside the Mossberg as well.

I like my firearms to be clean and simple , with the exception of a GSG-5 and I have a Streamlight TLR-1 on a G19 / 33 round mag for the bedroom . I don't expect I'd need to go beyond the G19 if needed - I'm not a room clearing type if my alarm were to go off in the middle of the night . I'm armed in 20 seconds and my wife goes to our daughters room beside ours while I watch the only hallway leading to our rooms. That's where I stay .

BTW - I've woken up to a burglar in my house when I lived in Vancouver before I was a gun owner and it is not something I'd wish upon anyone . Very ####ty deal that I fortunately came out on top of that time.

Those slings suck. They're difficult to load from as they swing about. The shell loops aren't strong enough to keep shells from falling out, they throw off balance when swinging the shotgun and they're annoying when the shotgun is slung. With the shells at the rear of the sling your only option is muzzle up strong side which presents two problems. The reach through technique for bringing the shotgun to bear is complicated when compared to the roll under technique used on the support side with the muzzle down. It also becomes problematic with heavy or loose fitting clothes. The second issue is that strong side carry will deny you access to your pistol(provided you're carrying one).

Side saddle, light, tritium bead, and a simple sling.

I'm not clearing houses with it , I've got 9 rounds loaded when it sits in the safe and the shells in the sling I can get at if needed . Just some spares is all they are for me . It's not supposed to be a super tactical setup for my purposes .

9 rounds of 00 should get me a few seconds to reload some shells but YMMV.

The extra weight and difficulty accessing them offsets the advantage. You live in Utah, why is the shotgun locked up? Why run a shotgun when you could have a rifle?

Had one of them scatterguns...great rig that eat and cycled everything. I sold it to buy something lighter and more compact for toting while fishing etc. I loved that gun though and miss the ghost rings. It could hit stuff at 100m with ease w/ slugs.

5 year old daughter is why it's locked up . I have a quick access wall safe in my bedroom beside me which will have to do . There are others around the house but for the most part the main bunch reside in a safe . Loaded , but still in a safe . I have a light on only one weapon , had one on my AR but not at the moment .

If I lived on my own I would only have them locked up when I was not home, but that's not the case . I guess I have some reserves about the AR if I was grabbing it for a HD situation due to where the bad guys would likely be coming from I worry about a miss going into my neighbor's house across the street . I guess buckshot wouldn't be any better.

I hear you on the little one, a quick access safe is a good choice. You're right on the buckshot comment as well.

Good choice on the 590. I agree with TDC though, that sling isn't very good.
I tryed to keep mine simple, Surefire light, heat shield, Specter sling, side saddle.

I use the heat shield because I shoot my shotgun intill it gets red hot, I havn't personally burnt myself on it yet, but a friend of mine has. It was a pretty serious burn. A heat shield does add a bit of weight, but I'll take it over getting burnt.
