Thanks, I might do that. Dies aren't problem,..on the shelf at WSS but I didn't buy them cuz, no use having dies without brass..;)

I have some 375 H&H brass, has anyone resized it to 300?

Great!
I have never been interested in 'magnums', except the .300H&H and 8x68.
.300 H&H is just a classic cartridge that has a cult following. It seems those that use it, love it.

Hello Rembo,
I was inthe basement of Reliable Gun (Vancouver) today and came across 75 rounds of Winchester Silvertip .300 H&H cartridges (factory; not reloads). Forty are in original boxes and 35 are in MTM plastic boxes. There are 55 cartridges with 220 grain bullets and 20 with 180 grain bullets. They all are in excellent shiny condition; no corrosion at all. I asked the owner what he wanted for them and he said $130 plus shipping. Given that the only factory cartridges listed are Federal at $70 per box I guess that is a fair price.

^ That sounds like a pretty good price for that factory ammo and you get 75 pieces of brass, once you've shot it!

I love my M-700 Classic .300H&H! What a great old cartridge!

Nugget's Grampa used one of those rifles in super 30 for plains game in Africa. He inherited the Impala and Gazelle but sadly not the gun to go with them. Considering they were shot in the late 60's early 70's the taxidermist did a fantastic job they look like new still.
Always been watching for a 721 for him but never had much luck.

Congrats Rembo!

Well, I installed a new Pachmar pad and refinished the stock with Birchwood-Casey Filler & Sealer and Tru-Oil, filled the grain fairly well.

Then mounted a 70's vintage 3-9X Redfield in the Weavers....looks better now....;)
Have 20 new WW brass loaded with 180 Accubonds and Rel 22....:)

I've done it using imperial wax as lube. It works fine in a decent sized press, the long taper makes for fairly easy work.

Easier is running 300 Wby through a 375 H&H FL die to knock the shoulder down, then through the 300 H&H FL die. They end up a little long, and a few had a slight ripple in the shoulder, but nothing that 60,000 psi didn;t straighten out.

The rifle that I have used for Elk hunting for the last few years is an old (1941-42 vintage) model 70 in .300 H&H that I inherited.
It is an excellent shooter, and loves 165 grian boat tails over a medium charge of 4350.

My only complaint is that brass life is little on the short side with that long sloping neck. And sometimes it seems to get a bit heavy on the shoulder by the end of the day...

Those old Model 70s were too heavy. I happen to think that without Jack O'Connor, they would never have reached the fame they seem to have.
In short, I happen to think the old, pre 64 Model 70 Winchesters were over rated.
I actually prefered an FN Mauser, or a Model 725 Remington. This Model 721 you're looking at was an economical series, not top of the line price at about $115 new, but could easily shoot as well as a pre 64 70.
So there you have it. I said it.

I got some good...... expensive nosler brass in .300h&h from p&d at the easter show in Calgary. They might still have some, I don't imagine it's a fast mover, especially at $60 a box, or what ever I paid for it.
