Hi,
I just ordered a few stuff at Brownells website and they shipped everything in stock except the Pachmayr grip. They sent a message saying that Pachmayr wasn't registered with the Departement of State.

Does someone know where I could get a 1911 Signature grip then?

Yeah, I went to order a bunch of small parts, and they wouldn't ship me the Hogue grip screws either. Just imagine the carnage I could cause if I got my hands on some tiny hex screws. Retards.

I still order from Brownells but I am amazed how businesses in the supposed freest country in the world are allowing the state department run their business. In fact the USSR had less restrictive export rules in some areas. And in todays world Communist China probably has to. The US has started to become what they feared the most a nation under government control. The signers of the Declaration of Independence must be turning over in their graves. I hope they wake up before its to late. Rant off.

Hogue is on the list of exporters. You can order Hogue or their parts from any dealer in Canada that sells them.

Would be nice if Brownells indicated whether a product was exportable on the product page rather than doing the roulette and making an order with stuff getting omitted. Hate wasting the $100 limit and getting only $20 worth of "gun parts".

First off, Brownell's is very friendly to us and does what it can.
Now, I believe that manufacturers have to apply for their products to be exportable and it just isn't feasible for a small company to jump through all the hoops for the small amount of export business they would get.

With the rise of Obama-phobia, Americans are buying up all the gun related goodies they can.

Brownell's couldn't sell me a set of front sight inserts, but I could buy a globe front sight with a set of seven inserts. I haven't tried to figure that one out.

There is a list of the companies who have registered with the DOS.. and Brownells is only following the rules.. It bunch of crazy rules...

Bownells, has shipped me 5 speedloaders and a loading tray with no problems. great customer service. They are handcuffed when it comes to some manufacturers through no fault of their own.

You should write the congressman of the area Brownell is in to point out how the State department is preventing a decent business from shipping small screws to a NATO ally. The more Congressman that hear the the State department is costing businesses and making an ass of themselves, the more likely things will change.

I ordered Pachmayr grips for my 1911 right from their website and they arrived promptly for a reasonable charge. You might that.

I have never ordered from Brownell's so I can't comment.

brownells doesnt ship anything by this i mean about 80% of what is in the catalog they wont ship due to manufacturer not registered with the export department

Brownells customer service is unsurpassed.

You can't fault Brownells for being legally constrained by the U.S. DOS export regulations, and you can't fault Brownells for carrying a extremely wide product selection (or for the fact that some of the manufacturers of some of these products have not yet registered with the U.S. DOS).

Brownells will ship a product what they can, and they will advise you when (and why) they cannot.

P.S.: That 80% claim is horse####.

Shows the terrorists are winning, now doesn't it?

good idea. but I don't think the issue is with Canada being a Nato ally - our forces seem to get the parts they want - more with the laxity of the security checks Canada puts on the people it lets into the country and its follow up and monitoring once they are in. -and having a government that is dependent for its survival on the will of commie taliban lovers and treasonous secessionists doesn't help either. If I were a US citizen concerned about advanced weapons technology exported to a foreing country and then diverted and used agianst US troops, I'm not sure i'd export to Canadian civilians either.

I had the exact same issue about a month back. Wilson combat mags, .308 broken shell extractor were ok, but they couldn't ship me the grips. Also keep in mind that in Canada we have federal regulation on guns and gun hardware, so business is mostly consistent here. Down south each state can muck about with the regulations about who can ship what to who.
