I had one...and unfortunately no longer have it. So I figured it was time to buy another, and lo and behold, they are as scarce as hen's teeth. Those who have them are wisely keeping them...and I'm just trying to find one measly little restricted 3rd gen G19. Is it too much to ask?

Anyways, if anyone knows of any retailers with them for sale right now, please let me know...new or used, 3rd gen only.

I thought i saw a post awhile back that TSE had a few in stock?
Maybe give them a call and see.Yes i realy like my G-19 and will be holding on to it until something else catches my eye:eek:;)

Glock 19's are evil. 102mm barrel length.
You can have a 17 though. Same pistol, longer barrel. A whole 12mm longer. Epp's has 'em at $675.80. Likely somebody on your side of the world will too.

Folks have finally wised up that the G19 rocks, especially now with the restricted ones...too bad Glock doesn't do a run of longer barrels. I would get more but would hate that it had a jobber barrel...

"...Glock doesn't do a run of longer barrels..." That's what a 17 is. 114mm barrel length vs the evil 102mm barrel. Same pistol with a longer barrel and slide.

Have you ever held a G19? The frame is also very different, as is the feel of the grip. Some (like myself) actually prefer the ergonomics of the 19 to the larger 17. IMHO, the Glock 19 is the absolute best all-around combat/service handgun ever made.

:agree: 100%

I agree too, the Glock 19/23 are the only Glocks that feel really good to me, sort of like the Sig 228/229's feel way better than the 226. A definite difference. If someone gave me a choice between a 17 and a 19 and my life was riding on it, I'd pick up the 19 every time.

I missed out on the 3rd gens in the EE recently, and currently there is just a 2nd gen. However, Questar says they may import some more in the near future (fingers crossed). And I'm also of the opinion that the G19 is better overall than the G17...otherwise I'd be buying a G17 and not #####ing about not being able to find the gun I want since everyone has a G17 for sale.

Does Glock make a 106mm barrel for the 19 to make it restricted?

If so, or close, anybody have any pics?

From what I gather, glock doesn't but when a place sells them here they have an aftermarket 106mm barrel installed before they can sell it. Usually making them a few hundred more than a g17. I'm not sure if the change needs to be done before it enters the country or not though.

barrel length looks like:

This man here has it right. The GLOCK 19 smokes the pants off a 17 any day. The GLOCK 17 is the absolute uber newbie gun. If you don't know what to buy, start with a 17 - you could do worse. I have seen newbie guys (it is usually a group of 2 or 3 with one G17) at the range year after year. I will admit I am also one of the thousands of pistol shooters that started with a GLOCK 17. I sold it moved on to better guns. I have no interest in 17's at all now, but my 19 comes to the range pretty much every weekend. The balance, the handling, the "sweet shooting" factor, 19's leave 17's in the dust, and always have.

For reference - my current pistols are: SIG 228, SIG 229 (x2), SIG 239, HK P2000 and GLOCK 19 - all sweet shooters. Took me a lot of buying and selling to arrive at what I know now. Every shooter is a bit different, but the G19 rocks!

Some pics. (btw, I used to say the G17 was the same thing... just a half inch longer off the front and on the grip. That was before I had shot a G19. You won't catch very many G19 shooters saying stuff like that)

I think it's what you call a "newbie" gun because it's pretty good all around for a beginner. cheap, reliable, easy to use, popular, variety of aftermarket, 9mm, etc. I kinda bought two pistols at once so I guess I can still call mine my first gun. I don't even have possession of it but I guess I'll see how I like it. If worse comes to worse, it'd be super easy to sell the g17 and put that towards a g19. I suppose we'll see...
I fired one a couple times before I made my decision because I didn't want to just do it because it was so popular but I rather liked it for several reasons.

All personal preferences aside, can you really say the g19 is THAT much of a better gun other than the way it personally fits in your hands, etc?

Hope I didn't make the wrong decision.

Yah, you are right. They are cheap and that helps when getting started. I don't really like to bag on the 17 too much. It is a solid piece. It just wasn't for me. A lot of people really like them. For me, I just couldn't get "into" my G17 though. I couldn't shoot it that well. It felt "wrong" in my hand - kind of front heavy and just not quite "there". Plus the sight picture was wack for me. I had to raise my front sight up above the rear sight in my sight picture to hit point of aim (rather than leveling the sights off, as normal) and my shooting suffered. My big revelation, and the big improvement in my shooting, was getting a SIG 229 in 9mm. I was never going to come back to GLOCK, but two of the range officers at my range (one of which is "Tron", above) had G19's, and I started shooting their 19's and it was, "Oh my God! This thing rules... is this a 3.5 connector, or what did you do to it? So much easier to shoot well than when I had my 17". And the answer was "No, it's a stock trigger." It seems like they shouldn't be that different, but in some weird way they are.

You have to start somewhere though, and the G17 is as good a place as any to start. Maybe that will be your "magic gun" that you can shoot better than anything else. For some people the revelation is a 1911, or a 9mm 1911, or a CZ75-type gun, or a SIG, or whatever. Number one thing is to keep shooting, keep practicing and keep working on your technique (and also I think trying to practice mostly with one gun if possible. I don't really follow my own advice on that last one as well as I should, but I am trying to stick with one gun for at least 6 month periods now. I was "229 man" for awhile, but I am "GLOCK 19 man" for now. Both really solid pieces.

I remember posting this pic a few years ago, arguing on here that the 17 and the 19 were pretty much the same (this was before I had shot a 19). I guess I have come full circle on this point. Now I am the jackass arguing that they are substantially different in some intangible way. At this point I do believe that to be true though. Oh well, just have fun with it.

The Glock 19 is the only Glock I don't hate. (Haven't tried baby Glock yet, I'd probably like that one too) I own one and it's an ok gun. Need more practice with it as it doesn't fit my hand as well as HK P2000 so my trigger control with it is crappy in comparison. For people with hands bigger than me (almost any average person) it should fit just fine!!!

It's nice and compact and the extended barrel doesn't stick out as far and as ugly as other guns. Plus pinned 10/Full capacity magazines are readily available.

Parts are available which makes it a very maintainable gun.
