Would I be wasting my time getting a PAL AND AN RPAL?

I ask this because I was told be a co-worker that i'd be "wasting my time getting a Restricted (handgun) license because when the Liberals get in they'll ban them"


Should I take this into account when I take the course? Or not bother worrying about what politicians 'might' do in the future?

I'd really like to explore many aspects of the shooting sports.

I like Trap shooting so there'll be a shotgun purchase, I love target shooting and I'm thinking about hunting so there'll be a rifle purchase.... now for handguns... I'm really intrigued with the cowboy end of it... as well as regular target shooting. I also understand if I just want to get a high powered Pellet Pistol I still need a RPAL.

Opinions?

The more RPALs the less chance of socialists ever banning them... I don't think its a waste of time at all. I also think the Liberals have a very small chance of being elected in the next few years.
 
Canada doesn like to try to seize things en-masse (particularly guns), so go for it.

Worst case scenario, they'll change the laws down the road, and you get a grandfathered status for your restricted firearms, similalry to how the last round of Prohibitions was done.

And the more folks that hold restricted PALs and own these firearms, the less likely they will ever be "banned".

I agree that you should get the RPPAL and purchase at least one handgun. The charter of rights and freedoms allows freedom to own property. It is very unlikely that the government will ever want to be in a position to deprive their citizens of their rights.

The more people who hold the RPAL and actually posses a restricted firearm the less likely they are to try a ban. I also dont think the libs will be in power any time soon. even less so with Ignatief as their leader.
 
Even if you don't want a handgun right now get an RPAL. Why would you want to jump through all the frigging hoops twice.
 
I wouldnt be so paranoid. Look at how effective the conservative minority is at passing new legislation towards firearms.

A liberal minority would be equally as ineffective. IMO
 
Get your PAL for restricted & non restricted. Buy as many guns as you can afford. Sell some stuff to get money if you have to. Take out a loan. Go cheap, Go Big, but don't stay at home. You won't ever look back!

The CPC is not pro-gun, it is just ambivalent toward them. The Liberals are 100% anti and would prohib half of what's in your safe with OICs. Furthermore, a Lib minority could pass new anti-gun legislation with the help of the Bloc and NDP.
 
Considering we have to be licensed, the standing government will heed the most respect to their greatest threat. The more RPAL holders we have, the greater of a threat to the political parties we are and the more they will want to keep us happy.

Get your licence, and encourage those who enjoy shooting to get their licences as well. Lawful firearms ownership is the keystone of a free nation.
 
One day if the liberals end up prohibiting what is now considered restricted, would we able to shoot 'em at the range? Current prohibs cannot be shot at the range, so it does sound like SOL to me. :-(
 
Don't let fear and empty words stop you. Get your Rpal, then a handgun, then an AR.:evil:

The squeeky wheel gets the grease.

We, as lawful firearms owners are not making enough noise. Too many of us think we need to hide our otherwise proud heritage of firearms ownership.

We should be getting into the faces of the uneducated, PROVING the truth of lawful firearms ownership.

My boss even let me put the canadacarry sticker on the front door :D
