Canadian Tire Sale.......

Just got back from the aroura canadian tire on yonge st and they had some ammo on sale as well. Picked up

16 boxes of 12ga 2 3/4 federal feild and range shells, there were a bunch more and they were $4.90 a box. There were quite a bit more there but gotta be careful some of the boxes rang up as 9.99 and the sale sticker says 5.79, cashier just range them all in as the ones that were 4.90

3 boxes of 12ga 3" steel shot, clearance said they were 11.99 but rang up for 9.99, left 2 there

2 500 round 22LR packs for $2.30 each!, sorry but I didnt leave any there for anyone else.

So what did you guys exactly do when you went in, I went in and asked for a price check for the federal 525 packs, and it was posted as 21 bucks, so he told me that and I said that my friend went in there and got the same box for 15 bucks, so he checked it and it still came out as 21 bucks. A sad moment in my history happened that day...

I printed off the recipet in the first post and they checked their computer using the exact same item numbers to see if they had any in stock. The brick of .22 LR's that I picked up were not federal but winchester.

Two weeks ago I cleaned out the bulk pack .22LR at the Calgary trail CT Winchester Target (black box) at 19.99. The one nearest to me still has Fed Champion bulk @ 21.99 Wifey wants to swing by tomorrow and clean them out on her Visa. :D

Ya at the medicine hat one they probably have ~9000 22 bullets in stock. I was hoping for the major deal to come up. But I went to the walmart next door, all of there ammo was cleared out cept for 100 or 500 (i forget) of 12 and 20 guage, a bunch of 30-06 and a little bit of 303. Thats it.

I took everything they had on sale.... It was just a fluke the red tag that said $4 caught my eye and overtop of it was the 500 .22 box. Then the no way and i doubt it sunk in. Finaly found someone and got them to check it. While i waited i noticed more red tag's :)

And THERE is the reason! I'm surprised no one else has bloody worked at CT!

Red Price Tags mean the item is being DISCONTINUED/NOT SOLD anymore and they want to get rid of it. IE that store (they are individually owned) is getting out of selling those types/brands of ammo.

Green tags mean a sale for ONLY that store on those items.

Yellow sale tags are for every CT across the country!

Just about all of the southern-Ontario CT's have cleared out (or are in the process of clearing out) ammunition. The Lakeshore West location isn't even two years old yet, and they got rid of all their ammo about six months ago (visited yesterday to check, got a chance to speak with the manager on duty).

Apparently, I missed out on some really good sales. He told me it was all gone within a few days. :(

On the flip side, I picked up twelve quarts of Pennzoil 5w-30 conventional at 45% off. :D

drache is right about the colors. Canadian Tire stores get inspections so the colors have to be correct for which sale it is.

Red = discontinued/no longer carried at that location

Green or pink (most stores are now phasing in fluorescent pink tags) = in store special (only at that location)

Yellow = nationwide weekly flyer items

There are no exceptions to it since they are continually inspected by CT corporation inspectors and have to have the correct sale tags in place. So if you see posts about people snapping up items on incredible discounts but tagged with red, green or pink unless you plan on visiting that location, you're more than likely not going to get the same price.

Discontinued Red Tagged items might simply be because the manufacturer is changing something but is basically the same item but the barcode number is different.

IE say a brick of .22 ammo used to have 600 rounds and the manufacturer starts making the same ammo but only in bricks of 500 and changes the barcode. CT will then red tag those old bricks since their computers will have the old barcodes deleted and replaced with the new barcodes. They have to get rid of the old product fast because the barcode soon won't work with their computers.

While working at CTC, I was once put in charge of red-tagging a bunch of items lying around in the warehouse. Ended up giving myself a 75% discount on a Makita grinder, some ammo and a rifle case.
The red tags are there for different reasons but most of the time it is for stuff the store has too much of or something that has been in the back for long and the manager has become tired of seeing it.

That's what the Green or Pink tags are for so whomever told you to use red tags didn't know CTC regulations very well.

Went today and nothing good, the one store (Arthur St) had pretty much no .22 ammo, only that overprice Thunderbolt stuff. The other one had a lot more and also had a pack of Dynapoint GTs which are also labelled as Winchester Target for 19.99, bought that brick cause they were cheap and I was running low on .22 ammo, was the last one.

I hope that stuff is good, never seen it before however have shot Dynapoints and I like them.

After help to the front with my stash the cashier asked if it was a sale or just stocking up :) Make's me wonder if they get ammo for these price's or if there taking a loss?

Overall it was a very good weekend with the find of my $100 crossbow/6 easton's and the cheap ammo.

Thanks for leaving some for the rest of us ass!

hey guys go check out CT for amazing ammo deals.....errrr wait I bought it all never mind just bragging......what a douche thread this is...
