iSnipe v2.0 - Shameless Plug

I just downloaded it. Pretty cool, how about some ballistics for .177 and .22 caliber pellets? I have a program on my desktop called Chairgun that runs pellet ballistics. Of course, my desktop doesn't fit in my pocket as well as my itouch.

That's a really good question... I haven't been tracking my time, like I should be :p, but I figure the 2.0 update took about 150-200 hrs of design and development time.

A lot of that is time is spent coming up with interface layouts; Trying it out, hating it, then tweaking it, trying it out, hating it less, tweaking it more, etc...

Also, this time around, I added a whole shwack-load of ballistic profiles, each of which I looked up manually in order to verify it's correct B.C.'s and muzzle velocity using the [awesome] book "Ammo & Ballistics 3 - Third Edition"... According to one of my competitors, v1.2 had some erroneous B.C.'s, so I wanted to ensure that those were all corrected and any additions were as accurate as possible (hence the use of real-world numbers, as opposed to factory-specified numbers).

thanks for the info. Due to your hard work, i will now purchase your program. it better work dammit!!:D ill find out next weekend.

Hmmmm. Downloaded it a couple of days ago. Found the first flaw in under 2 seconds. 1000 yards for example isn't beyond the .308's range for target shooting. Yet the calculator only goes to 500. That being said it was neat to see a -457.7" hold over for .22LR American Eagle 40 grain at 500 yards :D

I like the layout, and the ease of use, and the slick look. Don't like how the range is limited for cartridges that exceed 500 yards. I have a 338 Lapua Magnum on the way. That's a cartridge that will easily exceed 1000 yards, never mind 500. Did I miss something that allows for more range? Or did I accidentally download the iRimfire?

I don't have to buy it again when it's updated do I?

I downloaded you app but it seems to have some bugs (hope its only mine)
When I ask the app to get the current conditions, it asked to use my location and I say yes but it dose not update any of the settings. It also dose not save my profile after I saved it. It looks like it reverts back to the original settings when I downloaded it.

Excited to try out iSnipe

Your iSnipe program was one of the reasons that I decided to go with the iPhone.

I have been looking to get a new phone for about 5 years now but nothing really offered more than what I had. I actually hate the thought of being a hipster with an iPhone but the iSnipe app helps retain some amount of masculine dignity.

Where do you get the weather data from? How current is it?

BTW looked at the app... looks awesome... can't wait to try it out for real and see how close it is to the real world!

The IPod is a great piece of kit. In our shop we have a few IPhones, and a pile of blackberries, but the IPod is the only one I actually own. No Phone in it, so you can just own it, and the vast majority of apps will work just fine on it.

Regarding porting an iphone app to the blackberry: big pain in the a**. What we do is a common design at the low level, then 2 separate builds. I do the iphone build, and another guy does the blackberry build. We can share diagrams and design ideas, but thats about it.

The UI toolkits are vastly different as well, so we can't even really share screen designs....

Personally I can't stand blackberry coding, they have at least 7 different SDKs, with varying levels of compatibility. Makes releasing an app to "all" blackberries a major nightmare.
