Anybody have any range time with an XCR?? I'm in line for mine and wondering how good they are. Are they that much better than An AR (apart from not being restricted)? Are they accurate any problems?. Let me know.

He says that b/c he didn't buy one, and that caused his #### to fall off.

Seriously, mediocre?! Sounds like someone has never owned one.

I have one. Shoots incredibly well. I can hit the plates regularly out at 200 yards with irons, and have done it at 300 as well. 100 yards is a sure hit every time. With my 3-9x scope I can hit the target at 300 yards every shot. At 100 yds its hard to tell how many shots I fired because there's just one big hole in the bull.

There are lots of nice touches which separate it from the AR-15, things like the ambidextrous safety and bolt release. The firearm can be charged while still shouldered and with eyes on target using the iron sites (impossible with an AR). The balance is very good, despite being somewhat heavy overall. Variable gas system (without tools), quick change barrel and caliber conversion. Plus the whole upper is simplified, with one piece, bristling with 'cheese graters'. Its a very good rifle, the equal or better to any AR except the high end military rifles like the SPR.

Oh, and you can hunt with an XCR, and you don't need an ATT.

XCR is more accurate than I can ever shoot, more then capable of complishing anything you will ever need it for ;)

P.S. don't mind Koalorka, he doesn't have a very sunny disposition :p

Thought i would inject a picture to this thread.
Here it is pictured with my R-15. Only 120 rounds through the R-15 bought four camoed mags, the camo rails and a camo scope. But when will i shoot it again? Who knows. with the XCR i can go shooting whenever and wherever.
Now that i have the XCR im thinking about selling the R-15. Going to the range is OK but taking the XCR out to the country is Friggin awsome. Not to mention i already like the XCR alot more. great controls, looks and functions and lets face it being non restricted is BIG too.

Wow!! I didnt think people were so devided on the subjet. I will get one anyways, I already have an noveske AR and hate the twang the buffer spring makes every time you shoot.
Dont be so serious guys, its about havin fun and shooting the s**t out of them.

wolverines supplies get their next shipment around november or so. thats when mine gets here. someone was saying epps had some in stock

XCR's are capable of pretty good accuracy. You will need to lengthen the butt stock if you are over 5'0" tall. Also, if using the iron sights, mount them a little farther forward that you think you need to. Although it will shorten the sight radious, it will save your nose. If you get one of the newer ones, with the nre trigger systems, you will have a trigger that all rifles should have in the first place. It is the same as an AR-15 match trigger and is very nice indeed.

I think they are a bit pricey, quality is very good and as mentioned before, customer service is outstanding, thank Terra!!

The XCR is accurate, reliable, and robust strait from the box. There is no need to do the extra’s you would do to an AR platform as they are already done on the XCR. They just work! I expect you will be seeing a lot of the top multi-gun and 3-gun competitors gravitating towards this platform over the next few years.
At the recent IPSC 3 Gun Nationals there were several people on my squad using them and they were the only people on my squad who did not experience a jam of some sort. That speaks volumes!
Good luck, you will be quite content if you purchase an XCR

The XCR defines "mediocre".

Having recently owned one and comparing it to other non-restricted and restricted rifles in it's caliber, I would agree with koalorka.

It shot ok (comparable to any lower end stock AR) but there were a number of small/large design features and quirks that I found disagreeable for a $2k plus rifle.

I'll elaborate before any of you die hard XCR fans jump all over me for talking ill of your prized possession.

The first thing I noticed when I picked it up was the front end weight. Rob Arm chose to make our 18.5 inch barrel in an HBAR profile which directly contributes to the front heavy feeling. As soon as you add a light and a vert grip you really do notice it if you are used to shooting ARs.

The second thing I really wanted to check out was the gas system and quick change barrel feature. I immediately noticed the looseness of the gas tube...not just a little wiggle room but loose to the point where the tube could move back and forth substantially. It left me feeling like I'd assembled it all wrong and something wasn't lining up. Upon further reading online, I discovered this movement was "normal", Engineered there from the manufacturer to aid in the shaking loose of carbon fouling. Some people had taken to smooshing the tube slightly to get rid of the rattle. Not what I want to do to an expensive rifle. If you're like me and used to Swiss Arms and ARs then this might drive you nuts, cause it bothered the Sh*t out of me...but I have problems ;)

The quick change barrel feature definitely did not impress me. There are no guides or rails to index off of in the receiver but instead there is a bolt on the bottom that acts like a set screw and holds the barrel in place. Not only did it leave me feeling unsure of the alignment of the barrel but also how secure it was. The last thing I would want is the barrel to shake loose during firing. It never did...but hell I didn't abuse the crap out of it.

There are also a number of other bolts (Ejector, Casing Deflector etc.) that should be checked and possibly loc-tited in place. Kindof annoying. Really disliked the delrine cocking handle and casing deflector. The didn't break but felt cheap.

The front pivot pin is retained by a small spring clip which was all backwards when I received the rifle. This puzzled me for a moment on why I could not slide this pin open...but I figured it out! Using this type of containment method for the pin is the cheap way to go. If you were to loose this small little clip, which is just hangin in there by the way...not like a C clip for the 180B, you'd be pooched in the field.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but this rifle was entered into competition for a replacement combat rifle no? From a military end users perspective, I'd be mighty disappointed to give up a Colt for this. Definately NOT something I'd take with me into harms way.

So if you are just looking for a plinking, cool looking, gravel pit rifle, then this might be the ticket for you. BUT I can honestly say, there is much better designs out there on the market that have been adopted by governments and proven over the years. I took a chance with the XCR, despite Rob Arms crappy QC track record and like koalorka said it's mediocre.

The one thing I'll give Rob Arm is they do have outstanding customer service and are willing to go the extra mile for our horrible little gun market....which cannot be said of most other US companies.

angryeyebrows, thanks for the review. Some of those things you mentioned would drive me nuts on any rifle. Never mind on something over $2k.

I had some funds earmarked for a new rifle but i think i'll buy a new tv instead.
