Tight Fit in M14 Mag Well?

Sounds like the same issue I had with my 2007 Norc. A b.tch to insert and a bigger b.tch to remove. Turned out that a faulty mag release roll pin was the culprit.

Like gnmontey said, check the roll pin. I had mine walk out over the weekend because a piece of it broke off. If you flip the rifle over and look down on either side of the mag release you'll see it if you have the problem. With the pin having slid out, I wasn't able to swing open the trigger guard. The broken piece actually traveled back into the trigger assembly and wouldn't let the trigger reset and disconnect the rear hammer hooks from the sear. That, and a slam firing SKS, made for a bad day at the range.

Good luck with it.

I just got a m14 (2007) The 5 round magazines disappear into the rifle making it very hard to grasp and pull out. I am sure if I had 20 round mags it would be much easier to load and unload. But the mags fit very snugly in the well. For me that is a good thing, It means I wont easily have the magazine fall out while walking in the bush. I am sure it will free up as I use it more, It would be a good idea to replace that pin by the sounds of it. :)

I had the same problem with the new black fiberglass one, seems to be that it just needs to some working it but its almost impossible to remove the five round mag with out any tools :S. I ordered some 5/20 mags today and hopefully that will help

cheers

My new Camo Poly was almost impossible to get the mag out. I almost resorted to vice grips. I agree with the fact that a 20 round would be easy to take out, but after playing with it for a day and "working it in" the mag comes out easy. I can take it out with 2 fingers. I am ordering the 3 pack 20's because they look way cooler than the five. The five has no macho value...laughs...my problem was getting the trigger group out, just about ripped my fingers off getting that sucker out. Going to make a hook affair to get in the hole at the back of the trigger guard to lift up and forward.

I'm going to rivet a short fabric or nylon loop on the bottom of a 5 rounder and see if that helps with removal. I find them even hard to insert. Two welded end to end would be nice if you could get a rubber cap for the exposed bottom end containing cartrides.

i've got 4 springfield made 5 round mags ( originals, made for parade use-) "acquired "and they are real b#tches as well- you need a screwdriver to "encourage" them to eject- i used to use them ro prevent arguments with c/os and leos re having over capacity mags- 5 rounds for hunting only- well it was just a whole lot easier to show him the shorty mag rather than having him check by having me unload the mag and then show him it would only take 5- the more savvy ones carried a "depth stick" - ie you could depress the follower to a certain depth- but it didn't work for double stack mags- i had to do the unload and prove thing more than once

Protecting animals from dangerous criminals one mag at a time!

I'm having trouble getting the receiver to seat in the Bell synthetic stock. It leaves a space between the receiver and the stock so of course, the trigger group won't fit in.

Any ideas?

Any tilt locking mag fed rifle, will have trouble with those chopped 5 rounders. Its all about leverage...especially with a tight new girlfriend( i mean rifle).
