Ok, I live in a little village out in the country.

We have : Lots of deer, TONS of turkeys, hoards of coyotees and an abundance of foxes.

There is seemingly more foxes than anything these days, and they're bolder than most yotes I've seen.
The foxes are actually wandering down the sidewalks at night looking for food.
My neoghbour was taking a stroll one night and noticed someones cat laying in the middle of the road. (Rolling around doing cat-like playful activities). As he approached, a fox ran from behind a cedar hedge, grabbed the cat and made off as quickly as he came into the picture.
My neighbour who witnessed this was somewhat shocked.

I told him about getting up one morning, going to my back door, and there was one not 10 feet away chewing on my dogs bone.

The other night, I'm drinking beer with my brother-in-law in the garage. My bro at one point hear's the gate outside and goes to investigate. He comes back in and grabs a rake and say's "C'mon...somethings out here!!".
I grab some other tool and we scout around... then, a fox jumps out of my perrenial bed and off he goes like a shot! (We now know what the noise was)

The next morning, I go outside and my garbage has been broken into, as well as my neighbours garbage.

SO, pretty much had it now. I hate when animals make a mess. PLUS, we have a cat. (I'm not a cat person, but my wife has had her forever, and she's a great pet) She likes to go outside however. I've told my wife not to let her out at night anymore until I rectify the fox problem.

Being in a village, discharging a firearm would be a big no-no. SO, I've decided to set up on my roof with the bow.

I just need to throw some bait out. It seems that they will eat almost anything, but is there any preferred food you can recommend for baiting foxes?

It's time to send them packing.

I told my wife I was going to make a hat out of him. Her reply "I want a scarf!"

That's ma gurl!!

We've got damn racoons eating my corn in the garden. Believe me I'd like to shoot one with something, but that thread about a pellet gun confiscation and the house searched has me thinking live trap and dispatch them later.

Although I'm sure it's breaking some sort of bylaw, all my neighbours are cool. It'll probably be a race to see who tacks him first!

We've got an unusual crop of foxes around the lake this year too.... and I think a lot of the neighbours (summer cabin types, as well as the full timers) are feeding them scraps, thinking they are cute.

In the wild, foxes usually only live 3 to 5 years max, they have a tough life... so if you feed them, they won't leave, and just get bolder/tamer. Bad idea.

I'm to lazy to sit out all night waiting for them, though around here its usually raccoons after my sweet corn not foxes after the wifes cat. I use a live trap with a can of dog food securely wired to the back of the trap so they cant just grab the can and run off. I just check it in the morning, if its occupied, I go back to the house and grab the 22 and a shovel (after my morning coffee).

I hear ya.

In my case, it doesn't matter whether I sit in the garage and have a pint at the workbench....or sit on the roof and have a pint with my compound bow.

This fox has no time restrictions.... he's usually poking around by 10pm.

Be careful of a firearms discharge bylaw that includes bows in the definition. You said your neighbors are cool, but who knows about people driving by etc. Good luck.
