I bought a Mossberg 30-06 4X4 off cabela's online a few months ago.
At first it shot well, but after the first few clips it started to jam after i shot it, and i would have to hit the bolt pretty hard to eject the shell, although it would usually stop once the gun started to warm up. after the 41st round, it jammed, and when i hit the bolt it completely sheared off the extractor. The shell is still in the barrel, and i can't seem to free it.
has anyone ever heard of this problem?

I'd been using 168 and 180 gr. winchester super X

Either your chamber is cut too small (most likely situation) or something is wrong with the ammunition (too big). When you say it jammed are you talking the magazine feed or did you have troubling closing the bolt on a loaded chamber? Regardless, I recommend you contact Mossberg and let them know your situation.

the bolt jammed when i tried to extract a spent shell.i sent my gun back to mossberg and they're currently "inspecting it." hopefully i get a replacement by the time moose season rolls around

Hmm... better be giving my 12 gauge Maverick (mossberg) defender a good going over before I'm up to my elbows in an Elk with a Griz deciding I have his dinner! Maybe for this use economical wasn't want I wanted

My mossy 500 has worked very reliably and smoothly. I've heard mostly good things about thier shotguns. Thier rifles on the other had are pretty ####ty, my buddies was a hunk of crap and all I hear from others are that they give nothing but problems.

I\ve owned 2 Mossberg 500's that preformed flawlessly through 100's of rounds each.

odd that I keep getting reports that their rifles are pure ####....

I'm a big fan of their shotguns. The 500 can't be beat for a $100 pump. Try to find an 870 for that. The 4x4's, however, are junk. Mossberg should stick to shotguns.

People who won't buy a gun because one of their models sucks aren't thinking very intelligent. All of the major brands (Remington, Winchester, Savage, etc.) have made horrible guns. Just because Remington makes the 597(mine works good mind you) and the 710 doesn't mean that I wouldn't buy a 700.
