Black Rifle of yesterday = sporting rifle of today

While I'm not against it, I have a hard time understanding why. A good bolt action is just plain and simple a better hunting gun... the deer aren't charging you in waves.

True they don't charge you in waves.
However,We party hunt with a gang and if the group of deer is of acceptable size I have filled half of our gangs tags at the same time on several occasions. (with my CZ 52/57 in 7.62.39 )

sure, I'd like to see the AR de-restricted they're a blast to plink with, I'd also love a CCW but would I ever take that thing hunting? No, call me Fudd but I won't carry a plastic hunting rifle. :nest:

So pick-up some wood grips and a wooden butt stock for it. Problem solved. :p

Very well done video, and it was a great idea to show the how almost all of our most common hunting rifles are derived from military arms. A GUN is a GUN, it's classification should not depend on what it looks like and what it is called.

There, fixed that for you.:D They should all be the same, handgun, rifle, semi, pump, bolt or revolver.

I bought a Ruger Mini 14 Target in 223 when they first came out to use for hunting coyotes/predators sold it a few months later only because it was to heavy to pack around especially if I was snow shoeing in.

A far lighter R15 223 would be an very nice predator rifle that would fit right in with my 21" barreled T/C Contender carbine single shot in 223 and my 22" barreled Sako 85 Grey Wolf in 22-250.

I defiantely see a place for these kinds of rifles in the hunting world I would also hunt with handguns if it was legal...

***This is a must see video for all hunters in Canada.

I think that the acceptance of AR type rifles for hunting has been accelerated in the US by the huge numbers of veterans from the Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan coming home with so much experience with the platform.

Oh and a 6.5x55 upper, and one of those neat mesh brass catchers one can get for an AR would be just peachy IMHO. :)

Wait a minute...does this mean I can post about Remington 742s in Black Rifles?:D

There have been some good campaigns in the states in the last 10 years, the NRA did a good job reminding 'duck hunters' that its 'united we stand, divided we fall'.

Making what formerly was a "black rifle" into a "camo rifle" doesn't influence me one way or another to buy it. If it fits my "wants +/or needs" list then I'll buy it.

But if it gets more people interested in the sport and willing to lay down their hard earned cashed to get on board then I say paint 'em pink if it works.
