I just found a small electronic safe large enough for a few pistols for $29.99. It has a programmable keypad that will accept from 3-9 digit combinations and has a hidden key override under a hidden faceplate. I bolted it down in a spot hidden away from view so it's small enough to go anywhere but has plenty of room inside. Check it out boys and girls, I'm thinking of another. :)

Don't they say specifically not to store firearms or ammo inside?? (at least the ones Ive seen have) or is this some anti bull crap?

Probably says that, so when the lock gets picked with paperclip and piece of coathanger, the company has plausibly deniability.

Nope, it says nothing of the sort. I saw a very similar unit in Bass Pro a couple weeks back I was tempted to buy. But it was more then double the cost and it weighed the same.

And for what it's worth, I'm reasonably certain nobody will crack this one with a paperclip and a coathanger. :)

Canadian tire was selling a very similar (or maybe exact same) safe a few years ago. Probably still do. It was more than $30 though, maybe $50; I don't really remember.

Anyway, there was a bunch of threads about it a few years ago. Guys even showed how to disable the beeping on the keypad.

A good buy for $30 I think :)

Ive actually had one of the "cheap knockoffs" of that safe for years now although sadly mine screwed up, refuses to work with the key pad so can only use the key for it. Still decent though. I keep my ammo in it so "small hands" can't play with the ammo.

You can open these with a common household tool with no damage to the safe.

No, I won't post the info here.

But hey, if a criminal is in your house and determined, they can, and will, break into a more expensive unit almost as easily.

Compliance with the law and keeping things safe around little hands is the most important part. They are good units for the money.:)

x2, although I don't know offhand if mine is a cheap knockoff or the same thing. If it's a clone, I got ripped off :( Actually... it lasted 6 months and then died, either way I got ripped off!

In case you have internal wall build with the concrete blocks in the basement, take one block out, put this safe inside and cover it with concrete around. It will be perfect.

I had one that was similar but I was the Crappy Tire one. Like others here the keypad quit working after 6-8 months. Would've been a "good value" if it lasted.

safe

anyone who would bash this thing is nuts! its 30 dollars!!! gimme a break! its a cheap alternative to an expensive handgun safe. I have one like this and have no problems with it. as far as picking the lock with something like a pick. What about the cheap green safes from crappy tire? there a joke! I would love to see this! Great safe for the price. I agree the XS cargo store is complete crap but sometimes you find a good guy. they also sell those little stick on sirens that you can put on any door hinge or window hinge that adds a little extra security to your gun safes. They cost around 7.00 for 5.
