Yes I have finally decided to get the results of the four polls that I had going and put the 10 most voted on WW 2 firearms in one final poll. I did my best to be fair with out personal bias for what I like, and where the vote was the same count near the end, I went by percentage wise. and that was just for the 10th place fire arm. Some of you will be rather amused or shocked that what you voted for did or did not make the final count. and where it ended up in the 10.

So here is the result, in order of most voted for to least voted for, feel free to vote again on this last poll to pick out the three most perfect, wanted / desired WW 2 firearms.

If you enjoyed the polls let me know, was given a few suggestions on what else to do, and some where on what other polls to do, LOL.

Hard to NOT pick the MG42, highest rate of fire of any single barreled machine gun ever? Other than the Flak 88, it had to be one of the most feared of all German weapons.

M1 Garand, not much to be said, fantastic rifle and one (or several) will definitely be in my collection when money allows.

This poll is starting out good. M1 Garand, MG42 Lee Enfield in that order. I figured the Thompson would be at the top right away, but time will tell.

If you enjoyed the poll let me know.

I think the SVT40 is very underrated here in North America. Mostly because it saw service predominantly on the Eastern front. When you look at what it was and the features it had, this was a very advanced rifle for 1940.

The Germans loved to capture these rifles and then re-issue them to their troops. They were then known as the Sig 259r. They even created a German manual of arms for this rifle.

The Finns also liked to capture these rifles and re-issue them.

pros: 7.62x54r (similar to the 30-06) Detachable 10 round magazine, semi auto piston system with gas adjust, last shot hold open, very light for a battle rifle and they had a muzzle brake. Also excellent balance.

Cons: The stocks were made out of a light Arctic Birch which is soft and dents/dings easily. Also because the rifle was so light it needed the muzzle brake. The length of the rifle was the other flaw. It's a 4 foot long rifle.

getting lots of poll hits, m1, mg42 mp44 in that order, oh the poor thompson, it was doing so well in its other poll, well its tied with the PPSH LOL

MG42 the father of all modern MGs "C6, C9, MG3"
BHP father of all combat pistols "Glock, Sig, HK...."
and of course the first assault rifle MP44

All of these guns designs are still beening used in war today

Yup. Some favourites of mine as well.

SKS, and SVD Dragonov appear to be based off the SVT40 design.

I voted Bren , Garand and Enfield. The StG 44 was a great design , but the Nazis didn't produce enough of them to really make a huge difference across the board. The Allies built a lot of Brens , Garands , and Enfields. The MG42 design is still in service today -- but again , the MG42 came in fairly late in the game. Maybe enough were produced to make-up for loses in other belt-feds , but I've got some doubts about that.

chose:
1-Mp-44
2-PPsH-41
3- Garand

but after reading epoxy7's post and thinking again, i should have changed the ppsh-41 with the svt-40

I had the gpmg 1919 in the american weapons poll that i had going with the other 3 counties polls, but it had a low vote count, check out that poll if you want and see where it cam in, i only took the 10 hightest voted on

Actually that's not entirely correct. They produced over 400,000 of the STG and variants. The majority of those were used on the Eastern front. We tend to focus on the Western front since that's where our troops were fighting. In reality most of the carnage was in the East.

The ppsh-41 would have been my 4th choice. I had to think that one over. :D

I chose the MP-44, MG42, and the SVT-40.

Top three so far in order best to least are, M1 Garand, MG42 and MP44

Can't believe how bad the thompson is doin
