So I've got a new gopher gun, the question is, is it enough for anything bigger?

Just curious? :D

I got this off an awesome nut, I just wonder if it'll cure that flinch that keeps coming around.....

I even lubed it already, :)jerkit:) 3 or 4 times. Now, am I allowed to ##### how much it costs when I buy ammo? :D

Yeah you better stick to rodents with that, animals any bigger will likely require 2 or 3 follow up shots to anchor them.;)

All BS aside... that is a nice rifle. Congrats on your new rifle.

Sweet rifle but ya gotta know its gonna kick the crap out of you so no #####in about that either. We will have to take that and my HR 500SW out this spring;)

Well that's the nice thing about the Lott, it has versatlity. I can shoot the piddly assed .458 Winchester, $80 a box rounds for gophers. They should be adequete. And if I decide to go for crows, I can step up to the full power Lott loads. I usually prefer not to be undergunned, but I think I should get by.

A .458 Lott has enough power if you make the first shot count but it's only a single shot, man. Whatcha gonna do if you is off a hair an that thar boar-gopher launches into a deadly charge? Hope you is packin' a backup fer them situations!!

This may not be your "cup of tea" but I'll bet it would make an awesome cast bullet shooter for plinking, etc. My 458 Win. was very accurate with heavy cast bullets I made for my 45-70s....almost any cast bullet from 330 gr. to 550 worked well and was a lot cheaper than using 500 or 600 gr jacketed bullets. Those cast slugs were one-shot killers on even the biggest gophers !!

:D

No problem. I'm looking for a good gunsmith as we speak. I want a door breacher mounted on the muzzle in case I need to make a tactical entry someplace, and I'm getting a bayonette lug welded on the barrel in case my first shot misses.

I've got one in 460 Weatherby that has been magna ported it isn't too bad to shoot factory 500 grainers. I'm seriously thinking about getting into casting so I can afford to shoot it more. There is a certain giggle factor when you touch off those big bore cartridges.

I have a 458 Win. Great on Gophers. Found if you aim about 12" in front of the hole in the ground - you can pretty well call it quits for the gopher unless you miss. THis is where the followup shot comes into play. I tried cast but didn't get the accuracy needed to take those vicious rodents. 26gr of SR 4759 and a Speer 400 JFP at 1260 fps is so much fun you'll leave the 22 home. Good luck and have fun
