We don't have a domestic black non-restricted rifle that can take AR mags and is around $1000. I don't know about you guys but if there was even a Norinco copy of an AR-180-b2 coming in I would like to buy it. It's hell in a handbag to try and get an ar-180-b2 out there in Liberal gun law land. Here's my idea to any gun importer such as Marstar or Canada Ammo or whatever

An AR180-b2 copy or an original design.

19" barrel for non-restricted status

STANAG mags for 10 round goodness.

Semi-auto with a gas piston for reliable operation.

Price: Around 1000 or less!

built in picatinny rail on top for optics with either fixed or fold down iron sights.

Call it something politically correct to get the damn thing in the country if made out of country ala the "grizzly" which is made by Norinco. I don't care what you call it. Call it the "Beaver 3000 with genuine Saskatchewan seal skin rifle sling" or "Sparkly Princess safety rifle". How many of these would fly off the shelves? I guess we have no domestic arms manufacturers left which is unfortunate.

I guess our only chance is if Norinco can dial up something that we can electro pencil with our own brand and sell like Canadammo's grizzly. Those things sold out in record time and it was just a short barrelled shotgun. Is there anything out there on the horizon?

This is a good idea, they would make a killing i feel if they could provide a copy of some of these non res black rifles. I mean come on most of us can't afford 3000+ for a swiss arms orH&K and its not like theres any good deals on the ee either.

The only thing around in ,223 I know of (and it's a slider not an auto) that takes AR or M mags is the Remington 7615. It comes out of their custom shop... is around $1,000 and shoots very well. I've been getting a little better than 1" groups with run of the mill ammo. I haven't had time to work up any loads yet. Up here anyway, I think it only comes in cammo.

I agree gunslingr, they couldn't stock enough of them before they went out the door. Remember when the Norinco M-14's came in from Marstar? I was just barely able to get one they sold out so fast. There is a potential for an ambitious importer to make a crapload of money here.

I am really surprised that ruger has not modified the mini14 to take USGI mags yet.... you think when they made the new model they could have switched the mags around as well.... or market some mags that are dual purpose.

There is apparently one in the works. However, being made in Canada, it will NOT be around $1000. No one in Canada can make a rifle for the civilian market and make any money selling them for $1000.

Well, the Norinco Type-97 that CanAm brought over pretty much fits the regs that you described...except the mounties screwed us on that one

Yep, something that price would set off the alarms bells at Gestapo headquarters. They would remain "under review" indefinitely to keep them out of the hands of the common rabble. You'd have a very difficult time convincing an importer to take the risk of having this nonsense happen to them.

You can't even buy/ own body armour legally any more. Is that because tazers don't work thru them?!?!? So I wouldn't be surprised that the "overlords" would shut the fun guns down.

It does come in all-black furniture, either in Ghost rings, or standard battle sights. Not very many shops carry them.
I have one. A nice gun for non-res, but nowhere near shooting an AR!

I don't really agree with this. If they can get the norinco AR for not sure the exact price but i guess about 1000-1200? (correct me if i'm wrong), then i'm sure if they got a copy of the ar 180b or swiss arms etc, made it and got it in they would be able to sell at around 1000 and still make a ton of money because there would be a HUGE demand. they would fly off the shelves so fast, everyone wants a black rifle they can take into the bush or just plain dont want the hole restricted hassle.

I'm not sure what you don't agree with. The statement was a rifle like those mentioned could not be made for 1000.00 in Canada. You alluded to Norinco making one for 1000-1200. Norinco is in China where they pay in bowls of rice. No gun maker in Canada will work for bowls of rice.... Would they?? Any takers?

x2

However...

Maybe we should give Norinco a hint that we need many Ar180b copies (with a top picatinny rail and aluminum lower) :D

If they could get here for $800-900 (maybe less ), they wouldn't be able to keep them on the shelves.

Yeah it would be another type 97 mishap. The tavors are hear and non restructed just like the 180 but look what happened to canam. No reason to reclassify the t97 except the price. All I'm saying is don't think the gov will let it in the country, and good lucj finding importers willing to take the risk financially after all the recent mishaps with classification.

It wasn't the gov not letting them into the country it was the RCMP that didn't let them in. Big difference.
