It seems that Norinco has been copying all the popular guns. But why haven't I seen their Garand copies? If they can copy M-14, sure they can do Garand too.

If joneone/marstar can have Norinco make that rifle, I bet the American gun nutz are gonna cry a river. ;)

LOL I WOULD BUY ONE IN A SECOND IF THEY MADE ONE...I would love to have them make alot of other copys....It would be nice to have a Manufacture make GUNS JUST for the Canadian market I mean using are loop holes to get us some really cools stuff...

CAN AM;
I hate to disagree with you Chris but the Chinese tooled up to make the SA M-14 for the US market with the technical and financial assistance of a well known US arms importer....

On the other hand they did have a select fire version available for interested and qualifued buyers, however it was never popular as more popular combat weapons were available, like the M-16 and the AK-47 families of weapons.... They still have select fire M-14s in their warehouses even after this long period of time....

I do agree with you on the Garands, who would the Chinese sell them to ?

John

The younger generation that has learned about them,
but cant find any to buy (orriginals).
People goble up the 1911's they make.
I would bet a Mini-14 copy would sell well as well.
The QC has improved alot from Norinco.

M14: You cant buy a real M14 and shoot it because they are classed as machine guns so a copy is all you are going to get to take to the range. Therefore the demand for a copy.

M1 Garand: There are lots of original Garands left in this world (5.4 million were made) and you can own them and shoot them. I would not buy a copy of one when i can own the real thing.

Ammo: .308 is expensive enough these days, .30-06 even more so.

Cant find any to buy? There are 3 on the first page alone in the EE of this forum and there are many other sources.

I would however like a chinese copy of the MP44 but in 7.62X39 and .223 with a 18.5" barrel!! $450 for a Sturmgewehr anyone?

Problem is the Canadian market is relatively small, and the US (who would buy them by the crate)will not allow import of communist chinese made firearms, same reason we can't bring our Chinese guns to the states for competition etc...

The SA model ,yes, but the beginning of the M14 production skill set began for select-fire production, before the US civi market.

I'm afeerd that a $4-500 Norinco Garand might exhibit some of the problems of their M14 clones; mis-indexed barrels, soft sights, soft bolts, barrels retained in place by set screws to compensate for soft receivers, and headspace into outer space. I wonder just how good they would be at producing op rods and getting the proper bends into them.

I,for one, hope they don't do this as it would torpedo the availability of GI Garand parts because of demand to swap out the inferior Chinese components. Real M1s are so available that I can't see the economics in this anyway.

The next one to watch for is the Italian made M14 clone. I think I'll keep my coin in the piggy bank until it comes along and we get a good read on it versus the Norinco.
