How much interest in a Canadian limited edition Ruger No.1?

what are you guy's smoking, sound's like a pos to me.

Ok, I your out...:p:D I've had this idea for a while now & thought it was time to see if it was worth the hassle of hassling some dealer or Distributor for the opportunity to see one produced. But as said, collectively we would have to come up with a common rifle, platform & have enough confirmed takers to just to get someone interested. That would also probably mean a serious deposit... If it had any chance of reality.

I'd be glad to look after this, however, what seems like a lot of interest, is likely a long way from 250. Not to be a downer but 250 pre orders is a big order on approx $1200 rifles. I'd be very impressed with 50 committed let alone 250.

If we can get a chance to have either a No.1 A or an RSI in .303 British, I'll call you next week with my credit card number for a 'possible' deposit on two of them. Consecutive numbers of course '1' & '2'... After all I did originally post this...:D I knew you'd eventually take my money with some of the fine rifles you have been teasing me with. If this had any possibility at all, I'd be the 1st to drop a deposit down.

Tell you what, I'll be in touch with Lipseys and Ruger on Monday and I'll see what the minimum number needed and how far out before a 'run' could be started. At least then you will know exactly what you need for this to become reality. It may not be the answer you want. Its always been 250 but i've seen a few Lipseys that only 100 were made(like the laminate LH 375 Alaskan). With a diffrent bore size and chambering, this one might be at leat 250. :(

.303 strikes me as the way to go for this one. Single shots and double rifles ought to use rimmed cartridges.

Can we :ban: this TROLL?

Well, again, if you go 7 x 57, then what's wrong with 7-08?

But, if we can get them - I'd take one in pretty much any caliber......sign me up!

I think guys are looking for a nostalgic cartridge, and .303 B fits the bill as it was used for a LONG time in Canada and was likely the first hunting round for big game that alot of guys on here used(it was for me).

7x57 is also a classic but does not really have a history in Canada, except that we FOUGHT against it in 2 wars.

7mm-08 is fantastic cartridge but with little nostalgic value.

i'm in for a .303 #1. my vote is for an international, but for the sake of this project, i'll take an alex henry stock, if that's the majority's vote. i like the serial number ideas, and a maple leaf would be good, but it has to be a bit classier than the 50 yr 45/70. NO PINSTRIPES. i think it should be blued with a walnut stock. red recoil pad. maybe some light engraving witha couple of scattered maple leaves on the receiver? would pay extra for that. if its going to be a canadian commemorative, we might as well make it a good one.

Regardless of the answer, I'd like to Thank You in advance for looking into it & showing interest in this idea.

Let's just make our own, pardon me that would be convert our own. 1. Find a Cdn party to supply .303 barrels, threaded and chambered. 2. A Cdn supplier for the stocks - maple / whatever but better than normally found on a #1, maybe with a cheek piece, checkered etc. 3. An engraver that will put a Cdn crest on the action, add a suffix to the Ser. # and the Cal. Have all the mods. done in Canada by Canadians, in other words more Canadian input & $ spent here. You get my drift, in the end that's about the only difference between a #1 & a Cdn #1 would be. FWIW --- John 303. **The $ either way would be the defining factor, no doubt Ruger could do it cheaper, but it would be American all the way **

A little curious on when is the last time a major manufacture made a rifle in 303? I know I have never seen one on the shelf anywhere but that doesn't mean much.

303 is a good idea and I like the maple leaf on the stock. One thing that would make it unique would be if it came with a rimfire barrel insert, either for 22 or 22 mag. I am not sure if they can do this for the #1 but it would be one setup I would buy.

Not trying to hi-jack a thread because I "need" a #1 / 303, but what would everybody's choice or preference be for sights / optics !
I think I'd have to choose between a 3x or 1.5x5 Leupold...

You guy do know that Wholesale sports has the Rugar #1 RSI international in 7x57 Mauser listed on the web at $1229.95 right? :D
