tag soup

Tag Soup
1 tag (deer/elk, species doesn't really matter here)
1 jug of your own sweat
1 small bottle of your own blood

In a large pot combine your unfilled tag, the sweat you've poured out on those long hikes, and the blood lost on those unsuccessful stalks. Bring to a boil. Add salt and pepper to dissimate the "failure" flavore to taste. Serve with memories of failed stalks and missed shots.

Hang 'em on the Christmas tree! :p I have two to donate! Ah, but I got to tramp around on my favorite old hunting area another season. It is an area that my Grandfather on my Dad's side and my Great Grandfather on my paternal grandmother's side may very well have hunted on before the turn of the last century. He wouldn't likely have been hunting whitetail, as there weren't any in the area back then. My Dad was born in 1900, and he told me he didn't see any deer until he was about 16. There was hardly any bush there when Dad was young either, not until the big fires stopped.

I had 6 tags, filled 3 of 'em. Maybe I'll just mix the remaining 3 tags in with the ground meat from the animals I did shoot. It's almost like eating ground meat from 6 animals.

Add my deer tag to the mix. I didn't even get to see one let alone get a shot off after 5 days. Here comes next year.

Come on down for a visit and I will feed you some Doctor Doug's Venison Barley Soup, guaranteed to have no tags in the soup as they went to the dump with the heads............

Doug

Like to help you guys out, but the freezer is full of both moose and deer right now. So I'm too busy eating to look for that tag soup recipe.:p

I've got one weekend left to hunt at your place guys, if I do score, and it's not looking too good, your welcome to a healthy share.
