Building AK-47 furnature for an 858.

YESSSSS!!!!!! I got the stock off with the threads still intact!!!

Thanks to all who gave me tips, I think the combined effort of every single one of them loostened it enough for torque driver to finish it off.

Look for some updates soon, as I will resume progress tomorrow.

Update and quick call for help:

New photo of the gun, now with the stock lying directly behind the reciever. (***Still not bolted in!*** That will come when I get an answer to my question below)

Now for the call for help.

Can sombody please post a picture of their factory composite wood stock on their 858? I need some close ups of the rifle to determine if I need a part to bolt back on to the reciever to fit the full stock, or if it just attaches directly to the reciever. The reason I ask is because the factory wood stock seems to be built to slip inside some kind of housing.

A picture speaks a thousand words. Thanks.

the housing is called furrule , its square stamp metal piece that goes between the receiver and the buttstock , it looks better with it in place .

Complete!

Thanks to all who gave their opinions and tips via posts and PM's. I look forward to becoming a CGN dealer, and am in the middle of the process right now. Once that is done, I will start a production run of these for anybody who is interested.

Now... Enjoy the photos!

Quality of work. (Note how tight the wood fits to the reciever.)

Here is the wood seperated from the rifle.

What type of wood would you use production? Something non-porous to avoid mineral oil uptake, I would hope. I'd go for a set for the right price. Heck, I'd buy another VZ to fit out with it. :D

Deck approved! I, personally, would prefer AKM style forward grip with a bulge. There is also a cheap Chinese AK\SKS rubber pad available, maybe as an option.

Wow, loads of responses very quickly! Thanks for all the positive ones!

Now to try and answer as many questions as I can in one go...

Looks awesome! :D

Any idea on pricing once you start production?

Cheers!

I do not have a specific price nailed down yet, but it will be under $350 for a full set, that is all I will say for now.

I will most likely use the oak shown, unless I get a specific order asking for another type of wood. I will see when it comes to that, because I have a limited variety of species available to me. I may need to charge a little more for a change of wood species.

how bout making me a lower handguard and a pistol grip:) i have a nea rail and a folder, work looks awesome. maybe in a dark stain.

I will sell the pieces seperately, and can provide a different stain if preferred. Again as above, it will cost you a few dollars more.

Send me some links and pics of what you are thinking of via pm, and I will look into it.

Any chance you could share a pic of the connection between the new wood butt and the reciever, and how you connected it without using a furrule?
