Russian SKS45 long thread.

This thread, Just got to love it Gommee :D!! ---I,v been wondering if SIR is going to get a shipment in as well ?? -- maybe with a proper pinning method, You just never know ?? !!

Call them and ask them. I check on them time to time. They are big and they have pieces flying off the shelves as soon as it comes in. I know that from my clients that they receive shipments all the time you just have to put yourself on back order list or if they have to buy it right away. IZH impex way of pinning at the moment not available in Canada unless you buy one that was imported by them in previous years.

this is the only way to pin the mag..this is the YUGO SKS i bought about 10 years ago from Marstar..it is just a peice of tin glued in the mag well and it does not hurt any of the metal and it was legal at the time so it must still be legal? so we would assume?? i cant see why they cant do it like this now, when i got my first Rusky i thought this was what i was getting but nOOO...they got to find a new way F*&k the rifle up...

Nothing even resembling glue is allowed these days unfortunately.

I was thinking this as well Woodbeef, I was thinking more of sweating it in there, the bluing would be ruined, but the serial numbers won still be intact, maybe just tack welded, I don,t know ----- there has to be a better way , then wrecking the mag ?? !!!

A better way has to be approved. Found out that IZH Impex were allowed to bring it in and then pin it in Canada. Not allowed anymore. Has to be done overseas.

Yes, --- I know the history on the IZH Impex history, only to well , westrifle, thats the reason, or one of them, that this thread is as long as it is, --- I just think a better way ( Approved ) could be found , Over there, where ever, to improve the way these mags are pinned. Its a Bloody Crime, to have to pin them in the first place, But thats another Story !!

From the Regulations of the Firearms Act:

(4) A cartridge magazine described in subsection (1) that has been altered or re-manufactured so that it is not capable of containing more than five or ten cartridges, as the case may be, of the type for which it was originally designed is not a prohibited device as prescribed by that subsection if the modification to the magazine cannot be easily removed and the magazine cannot be easily further altered so that it is so capable of containing more than five or ten cartridges, as the case may be.

(5) For the purposes of subsection (4), altering or re-manufacturing a cartridge magazine includes (a) the indentation of its casing by forging, casting, swaging or impressing;

(b) in the case of a cartridge magazine with a steel or aluminum casing, the insertion and attachment of a plug, sleeve, rod, pin, flange or similar device, made of steel or aluminum, as the case may be, or of a similar material, to the inner surface of its casing by welding, brazing or any other similar method; or

(c) in the case of a cartridge magazine with a casing made of a material other than steel or aluminum, the attachment of a plug, sleeve, rod, pin, flange or similar device, made of steel or of a material similar to that of the magazine casing, to the inner surface of its casing by welding, brazing or any other similar method or by applying a permanent adhesive substance, such as a cement or an epoxy or other glue.

So if I read this correctly, I would say that you cannot use an adhesive for metal???.

Biggest problem is you have people on the other end who don't care about the finished product, just like the big importers here. They are nothing but a gun that is worth X amount of dollars. If the Canadian Market was larger for collector grade SKSs it might be different. A smaller importer like Westrifle could cater to this market,by selecting premium guns, and pyhsically overseeing of the pinning process. Not telling them what they want, and then hoping they get unfrankenpinned mags upon arrival. Funny thing is,it looks likeit might actualy take longer to go through all the steps for frankenpinning vs. the Epps devised way. But then again you must have at least semi-trained workers to pin on the follower................But this might only be one of the problems with the future shipments. THe UN markings are all ready showing up.

mine is the same way I vouch for this set up!

Right on the money " Biggest problem is you have people on the other end who don't care about the finished product, just like the big importers here." Cost VS Quality

But also the pinning process has to be approved by both CFC and Russian Gov't . This also $$$

The Russians care? I'm surprised.
Maybe they're worried about SKS rifles being unpinned and used against them when they invade the North Pole? :p
