Both are around the same price point. Which would you choose and why ?

Don't need to shoot 3.5" so ability to do so not a factor.

Thanks for all your advice.

What I would choose or what YOU would choose? I have a 20ga BPS and it's everything I wanted in a rabbit gun. Nice deep blue steel receiver, very smooth action. A bit of a pain to take apart, but I only shoot a box out of the gun a year so it's no big deal for me.

These two are polar opposites. Chances are you'll only like one of them after you fondle.

Few other features on the BPS such as the tang safety, bottom eject/load, speed release of cartridges (from magazine) minus the need to cycle the action.

X2 what the other 2 guys said. I have 20ga BPS and wouldn't trade it for any other. It has very solid feel to it, Benelli doesn't, but after all chips are down, the pointability and individual fit matter the most.

I have a Nova with over 5000 rounds through it. It still looks and cycles like new. Due to its lightness, shooting lots of heavy rounds can be a little abusive (easy to remove recoil pad and place a bag of shot in the buttstock to help with this).

Gun is easy to takedown for cleaning and is 100% reliable from my experience.

Don't know much about the BPS but they look like a nice gun.

Both are great ones. Go with what feels best and don't forget your gutt feelling.:shotgun:

I would go with Benelli. Why? It's like a Tank with the reputation to back it up. Feels better holding it and in my opinion, looks better. But that's just my opinion.

Both a quality guns, that being said I shoot a Browning as it fit's me like a glove and kills birds with me even having to think about. The only way to determine if it is the gun for you is to try them both and decide for yourself.

I own a Benelli Super Nova (which is really just a suped up Nova) and I love it.
It's reliable, it looks and feels great and it also comes in Max-4 HD camo, An option Browning doesn't offer.

I like Browning but Benelli is known for it's shotguns.

In the end it comes down to your gut feeling, but I like the Benelli best.

i would not own a nova .brownig has been around a long time .and has a good name behind them .i would shot a mossburg over a nova anyday DUTCH

Benelli founded in 1967 but existed before that

Browning founded in 1927 but existed before that.

Want to buy a rifle? Buy a Browning.

Want to buy a shotgun? Buy a Benelli. Why? Rated # 1 of 7 top best pump shotguns for the last decade and always in front of Browning.

1. Benelli Nova or Supernova

2. Browning BPS

3. Ithaca Model 37

4. Mossy 5, 8 series

5. Remington 870, 887

6. Winchester 1300 & SXP

7. Old Winchester Models 12 & 1897

And if you look at the best semi shotguns, Benelli again # 1 with their Super Black Eagle II.

Any list that puts Mossbergs and Remingtons especially the 887 tupper ware abortion above all steel Wichesters is not to be trusted. Maybe plastic and polymer are the new steel. Where did you get this list?

The winchester SXP fall in the same category as the Remington. Winchester is not the company it once was Remington was never up to much shotgun wise, barring the model 32, 3200 and maybe the model 11 and whatever they call the ithaca 37 before it was made by ithica.

List came from Expert Russ Chastain. Mossberg, Remington, Winchester in my opinion are all in the same rust bucket but as much as it hurts the owners of these, they had to have one in front of the other on that list. As for plastic and polymer, they have been the new steel in many handguns of the likes of Glocks as an example which has build his reputation of being virtualy indestructable and rust free.

there is no way a new nova wil eat as many rounds as an old win model 12 .or an older 870 wingmaster .i have owned more then 5000 guns in my life time and i will bet that an old 37 pump would out preform a new nova at the trap range any day ,you just can not compar a new gun to the old days .DUTCH

Not only will it eat as many rounds, it will double it, eat the old win model 12, spit it out, and eat any 870 or 37 model ever produced, and s**t it out like diahria. It's like comparing two guns from different class or categories. Unfortunately, the Nova or Supernova are in a class above all easily by themselves at # 1, period.

Bet ya $2 any Nova or SuperNova will outshoot any pump on today's market or past:D

Doubtful,Do you actually own a Benelli? I have seen Winchester model 12's with 50,000 rounds through them that still see use today, I have a Winchester 1300 that has seen 4500 round that I could pass for lightly used, my browning has 16 cases of lead through it plus 6 cases of 3 1/2 Fasteel and is still in perfect working order. By the way anyone who classes a plastic POS that has been in production for MONTHS above an all steel shotgun that was produced for DECADES is certainly not an expert and needs their head examined.

I'd choose the BPS over the Benelli. Less plastic and more steel for the same price equals more value for money in my books.

BPSs seem like a good buy to me. The Hunter model with a walnut stock and gloss bluing sells for quite a bit less than a Remington 870 Wingmaster.

Id have to agree. I think the benelli, in my opinion, is a bit over-priced. It does seem to have unquestionable quality. but its still the new kid on the block, and a pretty fugly plastic euro one at that :nest:(my opinion, not everyones) I think the only place that the Benelli would beat the BPS is if a swamp hunting gun was your need. The ease of take down and cleaning + corrosion proof plastic would tip the scales in this instance.

I think that the browning has a better fit and finish for less and would perform just as well as the Benelli in almost every category. Still I wish you could port load on a BPS, but I guess the quick release mag makes up for it. Oh and whats browning's deal with not making the high capacity BPS anymore?
