Legal Shotgun?

measure the length INLINE with the bore. ie: grab a ruler or tape measure, lay it parallel with the barrel and measure the overall length of the gun.

if it is over 660mm, and the barrel is a FACTORY short barrel (which yours seems to be), then you are good to go.

you will soon discover, however, that the pistol grip shotgun is far less effective in real life than Hollywood makes it out to be --- my crystal ball predicts a 'LF Stock for Winchester 1300' EE post in your near future :D

Thanks for the responses guys, I'm going to measure it after dinner. I wasnt aware of that JohnC, I thought each province had its own lawns, thanks for clearing that up.

So it looks like we're good to go, the overall length is 725mm or 28.5". I just wanted to make sure because an uncle of mine that used to be a gun dealer said that shotguns with pistol grips like this one were banned. Hes been out of the business for over 20 years now so I doubt he knows what hes talking about. Thanks again for the replies guys much appreciated :)

Oh one more thing I was wondering: how many shells will it hold? If i had some on hand I would just try shoving them in to see but that's not the case. Hopefully somebody has an idea of the capacity

the Defender is supposed to have the extended mag, so 7 in the tube and one in the chamber AFAIK. dont quote me on that as there are a few variations of it and you havent even posted a pic of your particular gun.

if i may give you one bit of advice: only load live ammo into your shotgun if you are in an area where you can actually discharge it.

I'll try to get an actual picture of my shotgun up shortly, and thanks for the advice :nest:

And don't forget, if hunting in Ontario, only 3 shells in total. (It's gotta be plugged for 3 too) Not that the pistol grip would make for great hunting though...;)

Might come in handy in the future if/when I have a teenage daughter :p

Ha ha... Yah, gleam of chrome flashing in his eyes, racking action echoing in his ears...

I can almost smell the puddle of urine expanding around his feet!

Seriously though, great looking gun. Have fun!

If you want to use that , You Can swap out the pistol grip, which are
a piece of crap to my way of thinking, with a standard shot gun stock,
for a winchester , Large gun shops may have one in stock.
You could also try Western Gun Parts in Edmonton, Alb.
Some of the fellows here will have the number handy.

does Knoxx even make stocks like the SpecOps for a Winchester?

That would be a pretty sweet add on. The pistol grip is pretty useless and it makes the gun only good for home defense. Not sure what it would cost for a stock like that but I might be better off just getting a new gun if I want to shoot skeet or hunt.

I have a mossberg 500 that came with the reglar stock and a pistol grip. I put the pistol grip on and blasted a few targets, then I put the regular stock back on and put the pistol grip is a drawer. I tend to prefer some level of accuracy.

pfft - Saddam had gold AKs. this is small time sh*t :D

^the bling factor on this is off the charts.

Yeah but that's not even a real AK. I've heard it's just gold foil over chocolate and he kept it in his fridge.
