FALs

The upper on the FAL is legally the firearm (it is the part that is registered), and that is technically the only prohibited part. The lower, trigger group, barrel assy and gas system are just regular gun parts.

It would be interesting to use the FAL lower (but have it the registered part), and manufacture an upper based on the SVT 40, or something like that, maybe a newer design, even base the upper on an AR15 upper (well, the bolt/barrel assembly).

this is an interesting idea, take an ar-10 upper, an fal lower and add a mag well/mating assembly, maybe to use m-14 mags

Hello, handsome stranger :).

Have to pull the Mech Tech out for a double take now...

Essentially.

I was thinking make the upper out of stamped steel, but basically have all of the internals (or as much as possible) identical to that of an AR-10. Either that, or we get CZ to make a CZ-858 in 7.62x54R (oh, and it has to accept SVD mags)

i would rather it be in 7.62x51 and use fal mags

The black SLR (L1A1) and the AK look like rifles I used to own. I'd shoot the FN first then when I was out of expensive ammo, switch to the AK with cheap chinese steel core, ahh, the good old days. Piles of steel casings from a 75 round drum and thirty round "short" magazines.

That is my case in point. That would be legal, but probably hard to export from the US. 9mm, using Suomi magazines.

im interested, would this possibly make it restricted because its similar to an ar?

are new or old ar-10s and sr-25s restricted by name as well?

Some are prohibited, all others restricted.

FOR THOSE who want to invent, re-invent, design or re-design FALs, or lookalike rifles I would be pleased to provide you with all the rifles you need, just throw away the uppers install your new upper receiver and you are on your way.

I have several thousand brand new rifles, all FN, all in the original crates.... With all accesories and spares....Ready for immediate delivery....

So get your manufacturing license, get your design approved for Canada and get rich....

just puting it out there but if you desinged the receiver to look similar but with internal's that are not interchangable( magazine included), give it a new name, is it still a variant

Is that a .22? That could be a ton of fun :D

9mm MAC-like on top, but if you were handy you could adapt some other things. If you use a non-firearm upper with the non-firearm lower and build a magwell, it might be legal. FAL mags, well, the point is not to make a FAL.
This IMBEL looks like a homemade magwell: http://world.guns.ru/assault/imbel_md97.jpg
