there was one in the proper transit box at a gun show in the north end of calgary a week or so . i know it dont help your search , just so you know there are some about , i diddnt even ask what the price was .
i would love one of course , but i do have a Mk 8 which i am really pleased about :D

You could probably get a Mint CNo.7 for $1000, maybe less, so your $1600 offer is a little high. I would post an add on the EE, lots of people out their that don't plan on selling, but might i they find someone looking for one and get a good deal. I think the CNo.7's are about to get a little rarer as the CF is scrapping all the ones they have, a real shame that the government deemed a single shot, 60 year old .22 rifle to dangerous to be sold to civilians.

About $900-$1400 or so these days, depending how nice and if it's original or rebuilt.

And, that is sickening that the CF are smelting them.

Dave...you would be further ahead to sell your 3 rifles on EE. Be patient and something will show. The CNo7 is getting harder to find.....the few I've seen at southern Ontario gunshows are going for $1200 - $1500 in transit chests. Most often the cleaning kit is missing.

The same hold truefor CNo7 parts....sights and barrels are very difficult to find.

Good luck in you quest.

Ron

The local govenmental (stress on the "mental" part of that word!), sent 500 of them into the Stelco furnaces in Hamilton some years back. Of course we all know how the bad guys and gangbangers are aching to get their hands on a 4 ft. 10lb single shot .22, right?

Sounds like they're meeting the same fate as the FN C1A1 and C2, and Sterling SMG's.

If they won't trust us with single shot .22's, that says a lot about how they feel about civilian ownership IMHO. :(

Lots of these rifles floating around at cadet squadrons. It is in the works right now to do an audit to see which squadrons are actually using them. The safe queens are going to be sold off in some form or another, in order to fund purchases of some newer target rifles.

So, in the near future we should see a bunch hit the market. I just dont know where as of yet.

As pointed out by others you won't see these on the market ever.

Someone is telling you a good story but the reality is that all these rifles will end up getting chopped and smelted. All the parts will go into the smelter or be destroyed.

I suspect that some will show up with the original wood in perfect condition and some will show up with ugly beat up old mismatched wood missing a few parts, strange how that happened.

as for new rifles, think more pellet guns, under 500fps, local units will not be allowed to hold firearms.

Cadets corps and squadrons that are active in shooting sports will likely continue to hold onto their C No.7 rifles as there is no replacement at this time. I know for a fact that there is stlll a quantity C No.7s held in stores in Ottawa, still in original cosmoline.

A program is in place to withdraw the fleet of No.7 rifles by 2011 and convert them to drill rifles which are in short supply.

My local corps has DP C No.7s. Muzzle and breech are plug welded, rear sights, bolts and mag platforms removed. White paint band applied to muzzle and butt stock.

I examined the DPs and although they looked good, most showed high mileage. The notch in the track for the bolt head retention often was chipped or worn to a sharp edge.

Army cadet corps used to hold live No.4 rifles and thus had no scale of issue or need for drill rifles. Since then, their No.4s have been recalled and withdrawn for reissue to the Canadian Rangers, leaving them nothing to drill with on the parade square. Thousands of DPs are now required. Tis the begining of the end of the C No.7.

I've heard similar stories about the CNo7 from folks that have an association with the Cadet Program. The CNo7 is destined to be DP'd. Somebody has told me of hoard of parts here in Ontario....receivers, sights, barrels however these parts are just not surfacing. I've advertised for the past 2 years on this site for CNo7 barrels and they're just not there. Anybody have any hints on barrel sources and I'll follow them up. Yes you can have one turned or a No4 lined however its just not the same. Ron

It is to bad that all these wonderfull 22 trainers are going to the blast furnace:kickInTheNuts: I have an armourer built Cno7 and it shoots real well, plus guys line up to shoot it at my pistol club whenever I bring it around! As the guys say barrells are real hard to find, my buddy found 3 wraped in grease paper at a gunshow a few years back and sold me one for my project no7 i am putting together. Parts are where you find them ,ussually by accident:p Still need the rear sight screw and a butt stock to complete this build. Found a whole assembled bolt in a junk bin 4years ago for $30:eek: good luck in your search, I don't think you will find many for under $1000 nowadays, regards Dale

Well, I might have to have words with the Major who got my hopes up...but then again knowing the military and such, we dont know exactly what will happen with them.

What happens to the firearms owned by local units? My old cadet squadron had a half dozen Anzchutz rifles that they bought with funds back in the 70's or 80's.
