So as the title states how can you verify from asking questions and looking at the pics people post of their kit on EE whether or not they're fakes???

Here's a test

Which one(s) are fake?

I dont know that your going to be able to ask any questions, your assuming the person selling is not aware that their item is a fake... if they are aware they are likley not going to tell you...

even photos are not reliable as you dont know if the item in the photo is the item they are planning to ship you...

so assuming that you have an honest person with an item for sale, and they believe it is real, and the photos they send are legit... id say you still cant be too sure..."they" are getting better and better at making fakes...fake anything for that matter.

I'm posting this because I bought one the other day brand new with the new plastic EoTech box paperwork ... everything for a realatively good price. I'm quite sure the seller sold me a legit EoTech, however, what would stop someone from buying a fake after they bought an actual and reselling the fake with the actual EoTech box for an actual Eotech price??? ya know???

To assist in identifying a counterfeit product, you should look for the following:

* Uncommon batteries. The Counterfeit products often, but not always require several small hearing aid style batteries
* A product that offers interchangeable Red and Green reticle colors
* Highly reflective optics
* Visible LED light position inside the sight cavity
* The NV push button switches the LED to a different color instead of to a night vision mode
* Lack of EOTech manufacturing and serial number sticker

L3 EOTech trademarks, patents, and many of the product designs are protected by registration. L3 EOTech is dedicated to protecting the company, products and customers and will use all available and appropriate legal means, against any other persons found to be dealing in counterfeits of our goods.

"they" are getting better and better at making fakes...fake anything for that matter.
I don't care if ''they" are getting better, it's a matter of personal growth and education like Confucius says, but I sure hope "their stuff" gets better and works better everytime.
Problem is, today you just cannot judge by the price and may easily end up spending much moolah for what is a real, authentic fake...
PP.

#1 and 3 are definitely real.
#2 is definitely fake
Not sure on #4, but I'd say it's real

I know because you labeled the first three as such in photobucket :p

if the lens is tinted......its fake, looked threw one at christmas so dark you needed to hold it on a white wall to see threw it, also hitting the NV button turned the reticle green.....

Given the huge number of fakes available (just visit dealextreme.com) for less than $40, I'd never buy one sight-unseen from anybody.

:(:(:(FAKE!!!:(:(:(

How about a nice ACOG instead?

Only $36.25!!!

I would have to have em in my hand to determine.. The website has a good guide to help spot fakes...

I was told once I had a fake because the warning sticker wasn't there....I took it off as it is ###.

Just buy one from a reputable dealer new!! It doesn't pay to get hosed in a situation like this.

With that being said, you have to trust the person that you are doing the dealings with IMO. Someone that is selling a genuine ACOG, EoTech, Aimpoint, shouldn't have a problem with a 3 day no mount, no fire guarantee. My $.02 CAD.
