CZ-858 'Factory' 5 round magazines

I got some CZ-858 'Factory' 5 round magazines from a dealer a while ago. No problem with the price of them. I have used them a bit, I got several. All of them appear to be made from cut down 30 round magazines and are put together with 5 aluminum pop rivets that appear to have been painted with nail polish for a goth chick. Did anyone else order CZ 'Factory' magazines and get these instead? I expected to get 'factory' magazines, but appear to have gotten something else altogether?

Well, what I'm wondering is why they are advertising them as 'factory' magazines - apparently someone else recently posted some pics of theirs, but where did they get them (no fugly rivets)

Wow, no bites, well does anyone know where in Canada you can get 'genuine' CZ858 10/5 round magazines, cause bubba magazines are just not cutting it. .

when i had my cz858, i bought 1 factory 5 rounder from wolverine, and it was a nice mag, nothing like what's been mentioned here.

my mag had an internal steel shell body with a fairly thick polymer coating on the outside if i remember correctly.

i don't remember it having rivets or anything.

To be fair.. According to the FAQ's there is nobody making 'factory' short mags. All mags start out as 30 rounders.

So all these short ones are ones that have been cut down with varying degrees of skill.

I went and pulled a 30 and a 5 to compare. If the 5's are a chop job then someones good, because my 5's are better put togther than the 30's. On mine the crimps are better than the 30's. All work flawlessly as well.

Anyone confirm? For interest sake?

Agreed. The one 5 rounder I have (purchased recently off a fellow Nutter) looks to be same quality if not slightly better than the factory 30. Nothing looks 'budget' about it at all.

the VZ is a military based firearm. there are no factory double stack sporting rifles. they would never bother to make special 5 rounders.

wish i could.. just that I remember reading it a few years back.. iirc Deckard or Palinak had the info.

edited to add.. the gist was that at that time there was no aftermarket source for mags. the 5 rounders were original 30's trimmed down. there was mention of guys doing their own by rough cutting down the mag body and heating the mag body lip on the kitchen stove element and folding with a pair of plate jawed vice grips. this seemed to do a nice job from the comments at the time, (i didnt try this) but there was no long term reviews to how they held up.
