CFSAC, new matches

Think smooth flow, with no feedback to the shooter between matches.

Load up your 72 rounds, shoot 5-7 stages with only 2 sighters at the start, with movers, snaps, rapids intermingled, and at the end, go into the butts for scoring.

Load given at the start of practice 1, unload and clear at the end of practice 6.

Smooth flow, very quick to shoot, emphasis on non-prone shooting.

More to follow when the official release happens.

Don't forget the quick aim shooting stages. Really good stuff, much more coherent and flowing than AASAM but lacks the good automated ranges they have down there (a Connaught rangism.

At least we won the fight to keep 400 in. 400 is the new 500 :)

2 sighters for the whole thing? At what distance? No feedback sounds like a great way for guys to learn....nothing.

Sounds more and more like a long assed PWT3, you don't even know if you have hit the target and where the target is hit. Super efficient but not a good training tool for the basic skill. It is not a training event for the basic.

The course of fire is actually much more advanced - it is leaping from the basic to the more advanced skill in the area of position shooting. On the other hand, I see a de-emphasis on external ballistics in bullet drops. However, it implicitly increases the difficulties in shooting against wind.

CFSAC is not a training tool for basic skills period. Its not designed that way and theres better places to train that. The shoots are modelled closely on what alot of other big armies are doing and designed by guys who have done lots of CFSAC. I would give the matches a whirl before they get shot down in flames online.

I am not knocking it at all - I am just reflecting what long shot is saying.

It is not a training event - it is a competition of skills.

Absolutely right, but there needs to be training value in it. If we are doing one thing in battle and the same thing differently in competition there's a disconnect. CF shooting competitions with no training value is just sports with guns, no one can afford that time or money right now.

hell yeah. tell everyone who asks you to bring it back.

Dude! the story the way i heard it was ..... it came from much higher than our pay grade the fact is CFSAC is about doctrine, and yes even though everybody learns more about shooting at the 500 berm than any where else.

yes it sucks ........but all we can do is soldier on.

(but i would like to hear more about that story about a 800m engagement in the balkans against some a$$hole with a dragunov if anyone can tell me)
