I'm thinking that I'm goin to goto Pheonix in Edmonton tomorrow to shoot this wrist breaker after I clear out my storrage unit. What can I expect from this revolver?

Check out the revolver handling vids on this link. In particular note how he modifies his grip for the Big'uns to help redirect a portion of the recoil into muzzle lift. Note how much he shifts his grip downwards. But do not be tempted to go more than that or you risk it rotating right out of your grip. Just copy what he shows. It made enough of a difference for me shooting the .460 to say that it was certainly worthwhile.

Those are some great vids. Thanks
In my experience the 500 is much better to shoot than a Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casull. Hang on :)

It's a 'handful' and with full house loads, it has the ability to inflict pain, at both ends. To make the effects of recoil a little more bearable, I modified a set of Jordan Trooper stocks. I find this works better than the Hogue grips it comes with.

And if you can hold it, they are accurate.

Good luck and enjoy:).

NOTHING inflicts pain on the shooter like .454Casull. For my money this one is better shot from one of the carbine length lever rifles that is chambered for this powerhouse.

they didn't have any 50 cal ammo so i settled with 45 apc fun but not the thumper i wanted to shoot

Give me a call if you're ever travelling through Quesnel ... I always have ammo for mine and if possible, I'll take you to the range.

Try/compare the 454 to a BFR in 45-70 or the 500 S&W. There is a noticeable difference.

OK, I'll modify my claim. NOTHING "originally intended for shooting through a handgun" inflicts pain on the shooter like .454Casull. :D

And that includes factory Hornady .500 through a proper S&W revolver for it. Granted the barrel on the .500 was longer and the gun heavier but that Super Redhawk with the .454 Casull was just freakin' NUTZ! It's a close thing but the .500 Hornady factory through the S&W wasn't quite as bad.

And shooting my H110 behind 350gn Speer bullet reloads is a pussycat compared to the factory Hornady stuff. Lots of fireball show and a huge push instead of having the gun feel like a major league hitter just hit the end of the barrel square on with a good swing.

Nope, that Casull stuff is just plain ol' EVIL.... :D And as for shooting what is rightfully a rifle round through a handgun... well some folks just don't know when enough is enough do they....

10 shots and your wrist should be numb. If possible, shoot at an out door range. To loud to be shot indoors. Hang on to it!!!! A loose grip and it will spin in your hands. Very expensive to shoot. A 20 round box of ammo will run about $60. Bought mine last fall and I love it!!!!
