I'm interested in replacing my triger in a 700 vls.
I would like to put a Jewel triger in but am having difficulty finding one in canada? let alone any trigers or parts for 700 in canada?
are there any places that have parts readily available?

I am curious on how light a trigger do you want? Caliber? Use?

I find the trigger very hard. I shoot mostly hand guns and would like to imrpove this rifle for bench and varmit. as it is right now, i am not happy I find the machining of the trigger assemble satisfactory for factory but little rough.
this is for a .243 win heavy barrel 700 vls

I got my Jewell trigger from Wolverine a couple of years ago. Straight drop in replacement. Love it.

Send it to Guntech for a tune up. WAY cheaper than a Jewel.

that depends on how light you want it. If 2lb and up you can adjust the factory trigger.

I had one of mine done before getting it replaced. apparently 2lb was as low as it could go with alterations.

I have timney triggers on my rifles now set at 1.5lb

they are worth checking out.

Who told you that?

From Sniper Country for reference:
These triggers are easily capable of going to 24-26 oz's, and they keep the setting year after year

That would be right around 1.5 lbs.

I have owned many Timneys over the years and have never found them any better than a properly tuned factory Remington trigger. Most of my triggers are adjusted right at 2lbs(Timney and Remington) because that is where I like them. But I know for a fact I could get my remaining Remmy triggers down to 1.5 lbs safely and without any issues.

*shrug* thats just was I was told by a smith in Duncan. I like the 1.5-2lb range for trigger pull.

He said he tried to get it lower as I wanted it close to 1.5lb but he said he couldn't get it below 2lb without it starting to run into trouble.

I do remember having one 700 trigger that I could not get where I wanted it(using a trigger pull scale). No matter what I did I just could not get it consistent at 2 lbs. It ended up giving me a headache so I sent it to Supercub for his junk pile ;) :)

From my experiences that was a fairly isolated case though...

I just adjusted my XMark Pro trigger down and was not happy at all.. replacement will be on my list of purchases. Having said that if this rifle was for chucking lead at dear only I wouldn't care, I have good triggers on my other rigs so this one has to go!

So were to get
one? Have you any idea for price and availability in Canada?

I would like to find a jewell trigger for my 700 everyone says they are the best,
I have searched shops in Canada and still can't find anyone that sells jewel in canada and you can't import triggers into Canada

You won't find a Jewell trigger for $50 if that's what you are looking for. Good triggers are not cheap. If you are looking for a trigger for a hunting rifle, just get yours tuned. Most local gun shops are not going to carry "competition triggers". Other options for competition triggers are Davies, Shilen, Jackson expect to pay around $300+/- for a good one.
