Hi All,
After a long wait I finally received my HP9-14" from MilArm. I'm impressed. It feels really solid and is already quite smooth. I had a minor problem getting the Knoxx on as the stock nut on the gun is not threaded all the way through and the Knoxx bolt jammed on the last thread just before the stock was truly tight. Then when I tried to remove the stock the nut came out of the frame instead of the bolt coming out of the nut. I cleaned the nut and frame and loctited the nut into the frame. I will wait a couple of days now before I try to remove the bolt again. If that doesn't work I will have to buy a new nut as I will probably destroy the threads getting it off the bolt:confused: So I can use the shotgun now I shimmed the end of the stock to tighten it up which worked fine but I want to get it done properly ASAP.
I have a BlueForceGear convertible sling from S&J but of course can't use the side sling plate from there with the Knoxx. I have it hooked up in the single point configuration right now but would like to try 3 point. Has anyone done this and what adaptors do I need to do it? I'm thinking just the short loop adaptor but I have lost my sling manual and I am not sure. Does anyone have this sling and can they send me a PDF or scanned copy of the manual?
Here's a couple of shots of my new toy so far. A tactical light and maybe screw in chokes and it should be done, haha.

Nice gun, and a good choice of parts, but I think you should move your sling attachment point somwhere else, its in a bad place, when the gun goes off and the stock moves back it will be squeezed by the sling look, something is going to brake.

A one round extension will make it look even better.

Yepper it mighty sweet. Like P12 said about your sling I agree. You can get a sling adapter that fits between the stock and the receiver of your shotty.

I got one a few weeks back. Holy cow, I have never seen so much cosmoline packed into the action and magazine.

I spent about 45 minutes cleaning it with brake parts cleaner and other solvents, and still had feeding problems at the range.

I got it all cleared out, but it took a while. It is a fun gun for the price, but very rough I find.

When I compare it to my 14" 870 that I just built, it is not even in the same league with machining. Still, goes bang every time I pull the trigger, it just is not finished very well in terms of sharp edges and bluing.

Note that the finish came like this out of the box, not really brilliant for a never used, still wrapped in cosmoline gun.

And just to show how tiny this sucker is beside a properly big shotgun.

The 870 for comparison.

My conclusion is it is fun for the money.

If you really like it, spend some time smoothing the sharp edges and refinishing it.

If you have the extra cash though, just go for the 870 in my opinion.

P12 and JonnyBender,
I don't think the stock actually moves at that point, the movement is back farther. Also the S&J loop adaptor that fits between the stock and receiver moves the stock back and leaves a gap betwwen the trigger guard and the pistol grip. Looks goofy and you could catch your finger in there real easy. I have one sitting here if anyone is interested in it as I am not goint to use it.
canuklehead,
I'm with you on the extension but I have yet to decide if I like/need ghost rings on a shotgun that short and cylinder bore to boot. I have a HiViz MPB coming to try first.
Kevin M,
I don't think yours is an HP9 it is a Norinco Homeland Security 780 and yes they are a total piece of crap. That's what MilArm sent me first by mistake. The HP9 is waaaaaayyyyyyy nicer. I think it's better finished than my buddy's new 870 Express.

SEE??? Was I right or WHAT?

Milarm is passing off those pieces of junk as an HP-9, when it's clearly not even CLOSE.

The receiver geometry is waay different, and you can't fit a different 870 barrel on it. The end of the barrel looks like it's been shortened with a rusty pipe cutter. Poo is an understatement.

Registry Certificate said Norinco HP-9 very clearly, but Homeland Security 780 was written on the barrel.

Mine was also registered as a HP-9. Whoever imported them was either very mistaken when they submitted forms to the CFC, or intentionally misled people.

Maybe the factory in China said they were the same as HP9's, but they are not.

I stand corrected, thanks for he heads up. Now I don't know where or how to mount the strap. I tried the slot in the back but it hangs too low and the strap is in the way. The swivel hangs it upside down. I haven't figured out a way to attach to the front for 2 or 3 point carry either. Crap, crap ,crap:confused:
I looked at the Sage side mount plate but I don't think there is enough thread on the mag tube to mount one and retain the cap securely. I might have to do a +1 and a clamp of some sort with strap attachment/swivel point and figure out a way to use the slot.

P12,
Both the S&J plates move the stock back 1/4" and create a possibly dangerous pinch point between the trigger guard and the top of the pistol grip where the little hook wraps around the guard. I have one sitting here that I tried on the gun, I wish I had taken some pics, didn't look good. CanAmmo and fabsports same deal.
Does a +1 sit flush with the end of the barrel? I know I saw a pic somewhere but I can't find it now. If it does and I can add a clamp with anchor point of some sort I could also use the slot at the back of the stock and try 2 or 3 point carry.
I moved it back to the round tube in front of the adjustable part for now. I know it moves there also but it's just on a round tube so it could move freely if it needs to.
I carry it every night when I walk the dogs so I want it to be comfortable and out of the way which the 1 point is so far. I was carrying the 11-87 but it is a big heavy pig compared to this gun. We are having some coyote problems right now and I'm sure the bears will be aound pretty soon. I also caught a glimpse of a cougar/lynx, not sure which, in the side yard by the food plot the other night. Bigger than the bobcat we saw a few times this winter for sure.

Nothing personal, but no self-respecting gun owner should buy anything from Milarm. I swear they are a front for Wendy...

I have an HP-9 with the S&J sling plate and wood police furniture on it. I found the finishing to be pretty decent for a cheap shotgun... +1 extension is on its way, one without a plate.
