After a couple years of design and trying various methods to produce them, I can finally say that new manufacture custom composite M14 stocks will be availlable in the next couple months.

I have 2 questions for you all.

Metal stock liner or no metal liner ?

Selector/connector open or filled?

First stock to go to production will be the M14S-CQB , AR furniture compatable with full understock rail. Expect first run to be ready to order by May2010 :D

Hey Thomas.

IMHO, I'd say no liner. The FB GI stock doesn't seem to need one. Who needs the extra weight? Unless the stock will be thinned out and needs the extra stiffness from the liner?

Selector filled. Just lets dirt in.

Thanks.

No the stock has no noticable flex.I have a usgi stock and one of the new stocks side by side and while weight is almost exact, my stock has near zero flex and twist compared to the G.I. Stock.
These are constructed with a blend of kevlar and fiberglass to allow for maximum rigidity, high shear strength and low weight.
The new M14S-CQB will be as light if not lighter than the same CQB stocks I currently make from G.I. Fiberglass
The gi standard fiberglass stock weighs about 2lbs 6 ounces, front metal intact, no buttplate.
Usgi modded M14SCQB complete with bottom rail weighs 1LBS 14 ounces. No grip, no buttstock
I aiming at under that weight by several ounces ;)
The new stock is also manufactured in one piece instead of the 2 halves sandwiched together like the gi stock

There are pics of the current M14S-CQB model, made from usgi fiberglass in my dealer add.
The new stocks will be virtually the same, maybe some minor cosmetic differences.
Here's pics of customer rigs

M14 Fun

Way cool factor! Looking forward to seeing the prototypes!!! Finally an aftermarket stock what won't build up my arms like King Kong (or Magilla Gorilla, for you old farts) ;)

Barney

PS : Thanks M14Doctor!

Sooo cant wait for one of these...or two...:D

m14doctor, have you figured out a price?

cheers

The stocks I make now from usgi fiberglass have for the past 2 years, sold at 425.00 up to 495.00 with understock rail , no buttstock/grip/handguard....and I can't make them fast enough, also I gave up trying to maintain an inventory of usgi stocks.
I have a few left thanx to trades for other items but these will soon be gone. I'll mod them into a couple CQB's and a couple M14SA2 Hunter/sniper stocks and put em up for grabs in a few week's ;)
I can make these from the remaining usgi stocks I have or from customer supplied usgi stocks

The new stocks will be more , and a fair estimate would land somewhere between 500 to 600

That M14S-CQB Sure looks great. No chance on putting a full length top rail on it? One that goes all the may back to/over the tripper clip guide, to that we don't need extra shope mounts?

The stock will be released first
I have plans to release 3 different composite stocks this year.
I am also ready to go into production of an accessory for the leapers handguard rail that will fill the needs of those seeking options for mounting a variety of optics including standard eye relief scope mounts and red dots
All in good time ;)

"All in good time" he says. Like the words of mother the day before Christmas, when you're shaking the gifts under the tree trying to figure out the content.

Design, prototyping and machinist drawings are complete.
Next step is to wait for cnc machines to be availlable as my two sources for production CNC are both smoking busy.
I'm on the waiting list so to speak.
The first run of stocks will be ready in may.
I'm 6 months behind schedule on releasing the accessory for the leapers
I have learned that I need to concentrate all my enerrgies on one product at a time.
I've been doing stocks for nearly 3 years, modding them from g.I. Fiberglass
My new years declaration was that it's high time I put my skills to work and make a new stock from new materials, and stick with my already proven M14S- CQB model.

GREAT NEWS
After months of waiting, I got the call from the CNC shop, this morning that informed me of excellent news.
My rear scope rail accessory is in production and they will begin machining the first 50 starting monday !!!
So still some time to wait BUT not long now. Machining, hardening, parkerizing and onto market.
I've chosen to run 50 so post here if you are going to need one, I may bump it to 100 units, I don't want to run out the first week.
So if you have a UTG/leapers, KAC or Amega ranges railed handguard, or an AKM or Sage.... And want a rear mount to allow for standard eye relief optics..... This accessory is right up your alley.
I'm teasing by not showing pics BUT - won't release a visual or price until I have them in hand.
Would like an expression of interest from folks so I can make enuff of them so as to not leave anyone hangin or feeling left out :D
