Ever make a mistake when reloading? I have been reloading since the late 80,s and I have made 2 mistakes. I used large rifle primers instead of large rifle magnum primers in one of my 270 wsm loads, still worked but bullets shot all over the place. Just the other day I loaded a round with no powder in the case. Went to the range to try out the loads and and when I chambered the round that did not have any powder, click, no bang, took the round out and noticed that the bullet had moved about a 1/4 inch out of the case , thats when I figured out that there was no powder in the case. Could have been worse , bullet could have been pushed into the barrel part way.

I have also been reloading since the late 80's and have made one mistake.
No powder in a 9mm that I loaded for a competition shoot and the primer sent the bullet into the barrel, I racked the slide again thinking it was a misfire but the Range Officer behind me heard the distinct pop from the shell with no powder and yelled cease fire.
I hate to think what would have happened if I pulled the trigger with the round stuck in the barrel. I have never made that mistake again while reloading!!!

Not to get off the subject but I wouldn't call using regular primer instead of magnum primer a mistake, I do it on purpose! I've only used regular primer in my 7mm Rem Mag and now in my 7mm SAUM with excellent results.

As far as mistakes go, I've loaded 20 cases with powder only to realized that I had forgotten to prime them first. I was wondering why powder was trikling all over the bench!:p

Reloading mistakes ??? I've made em' all. What do you want to know ?? LOL :D

Actually, I've never supercharged a cartridge before. I loaded about 300 44 mags up, only to find out my wonderful Lee Pro1000 (now gone thank God) wasn't throwing a charge every 3rd or 4th round. Wore out a dowel knocking squibs out, and had to resort to my cleaning rod. Eventually, I gave up and took the rest home. Pulled about 200 with a bullet puller.

I loaded up about 200 30-30 with no gas checks. I had just started bullet casting and didn't read enough. Bullets were going all over the place, leaving a grey vapour trail in the air (poor boy tracers :)) and leaded the crap out of my barrel.

I can't say I've ever mixed up powders, and I've got quite and assortment. I don't use too many different ones on a regular basis, so I can visually distinguish one form the other...7828 is extruded, Unique is a flake...etc.

I've crushed more primers than I can count....had them go in backwards more than a few times too.

Wasn't thinking once when an oversized, improperly cast 44 mag bullet wouldn't go through my sizing die. I leaned on the press arm a little too hard (being an idiot with mechanics hands and forearms) and broke the toggle block on my Rockchucker....yes....I managed to break a Rockchucker  ........and the list goes on.

As far as using large rifle and magnum rifle primers....I do it all the time. I've never noticed a difference in accuracy, even using the exact same charge and bullet.

Ive had to pull a few bullets to check what the charge was after a range trip because I lost my index card while searching for a honey load. My buddy loaded a a 308 round without any powder for his norc M14, the bullet made it into the barrel and the action cycled another round? he pulled the trigger:eek:.................. Ive never been more scared for someones life, the rifle blew up and flew a good 5 yards. I'm extremely cautious while reloading now.

I had a tray of primers go off....quite a bang.

The cats still run away when they see the primers come out of their box. That day reminded me of why I always wear safety glasses.

Two mistakes that could have been a problem...1) no powder and 2) charged with powder that was too fast - expanded the case so much, the primer fell out on extraction. Tip- one powder on the bench at a time!

i have about 300 9MM that I have to pull and reload. a piece of paper got stuck in my powder hopper and was throwing between .5 to my load, 5Gr of powder. so ya, gotta pull those.

Reload mistake....

Not a reload mistake but one time 3 of us were at the range which was very busy, so we were sharing a bench.
Shooter #1 with his 270 placed a box of 270 win on the bench and let a couple fly. I was on the spotting scope, good rounds, let the rifle cool down , shooter #2 sits down with his 30-06, places a box 30-06 on the bench, lets a couple fly, okay , got a group but could be better, fine tune the scope, off with another two, wow all over the target, so he sets off another two, all over, touches off another two, same result, sparks another two, misses the target completely, so he takes a break. Shooter #1 sits down , reaches for 270 win shells, 1/2 a box of 270 win bullets are gone, shooter #2 was pumping them out of his 30-06.

never had any problem in the last 10 years except a month ago when the stripper wing nut on my SDB powder measure wasn't tight enough to bring the powder bar to the "zero" position to fill in

I had 2 squib load out of 10 rounds and erratic recoil on others, then I stopped and "kinetic pull" the remaining 190 rounds to realize that 3 of them had not powder at all, some had just a couple of grains and some were almost full charge... now I look at the spring to be compressed on both my SDB and 650 before reloading... #### happens
