I believe out here we have to shoot at least one level II match a year to stay current. if you let it laspse for more than 2 (I think) you have to re take your BB course.

Off the thread topic, but in Ontario at least, you could just pay your membership for decades and never shoot, and still be considered a current member in good standing. If you fail to renew for more than 2 years, you have to redo the BB.

I think that is where the confusion lies.

If you do not pay your membership for 2 years you cannot have shot at a sanctioned match over that two year period.

It would appear that IMHO that the intent was to require at least one sanctioned match every two years to ensure that your skills are kept up to snuff. But that is plainly not what was actually written as happens with so many laws/bylaws in organizations.

In my mind I only care if someone standing on the line is a capable shooter. I care not whether or not they have paid membership money.
The BB program is an excellent method to determine competence.

end hijack.

Not quite...

2 years of absence , you just have to pay your membership
3 years you get an Instructor assessment (which could result in recertification)
4 years or more...you have to redo the BB

Well I can say with absolute certainty that USPSA would not get involved. Feel free to PM me if you want to know the details of why I know that.

Yes, but there can be USPSA affiliated clubs in Canada (and there are) that can have USPSA matches under USPSA rules in Canada. :)

We don't have to have our own designated Area to put on USPSA matches here.

Ask me how I know that.............

Where is that policy written?

or better yet where are all the policies written?

I do not recall seeing the above in the IPSC constitution.

I'm sure it will be in the updated contstitution...or the by laws.

In the meantime...every decision the board made in the last 4 years is documented in the minutes of the Board Meetings...

I look forward to a report from the upcoming IPSC rep meeting!

I for one hope that it will be a report full of outstanding achievements and action on a varitey of points of interest that will move IPSC Ontaro forward.

From my understanding the agenda is quite full and will no doubt be rewarding.

Of course that is predicated upon the current situation being resolved in a dignified and appropriate manner. Happily I can see no reason why that cannot be achieved in a very short persiod of time as those involved are in fact upstanding individuals all of whom have the best interests of the sport and the association at heart. Once everyone (and I mean everyone) comes to that realization and acts in that manner it should be cleared up post haste.

PPPFFFFFTTTT, you IPSC people should all take up figure skating, and leave the shooting to those in the military. Civilians don't need hand guns and AR's anyways! :p You have to admit this is funny! Oh and while your at it, why don't you crying little children run out and vote LIBERAL!:nest::stirthepot2:cou: Someone had to get a laugh out of this? No?:)

No...
EPIC FAIL...

I just returned from the Wentworth level II spring match. A big thank you to the range crew for putting such a great, well run match.

Having talked with a number of people there, I am left wondering if the IPSC Ontario BOD understands their precipitous, punitive measures against John and Kent may well end in a split of IPSC Ontario as happened in the mid 1990's. I am told that anyone seeking additional information should PM JRB.

I was not around durring the "screat schism" so I do not know the details of that occurance, however I cannot see how that can be a helpful course of action.

In the end both sides of that split were able to overcome their differences resulting in the IPSC Ontaro we have today. Or one of the groups died off resulting in an IPSC Ontario with less members.

Either result is not productive for anyone involved as all parties i trust (know) have the best interests of the sport at heart. It is just in the execution of these wishes that problems can and obviously have come about.

If anything this will make sure that the new constitution has proper protection for it members so this does not happen again in the future. (Eg a hearing for any member who is suspended who can defend themselves etc)
