March Purchases

Your P14 is correct. A volley sight is not correct for a Weedon Repair Standard gun like yours. If you look at the pistol grip, there list likely a star stamp with a letter under it. During ww2 refurb, the volleys were removed so your gun is correct and as-issued.

I would not try to add the volley arm back as your stock will give away that it's been tarted up.

Nice rifle.

Thank you Claven, however, there is no such marking on the gun anywhere. I understand this was not WWII refurbed, however, I could be wrong. What other markings might there be?

Not even a purchase !!

My uncle had this one at home, and he gave it to me. Typical sporterized No 1, I'll transfer the barreled action into my No 1 full wood set and see if it shoots better than my first No 1.

Nice 1918 BSA, needs a good clean-up

Good grief man, thats like fishing for smelts with wire rope!

Smoke 'em if you got 'em! :)

I can't stand to have a firearm I won't shoot.... Even if it is an all matching virgin Portuguese '41 with matching bayonet! :p

Just so you know, I sold it on... Couldn't stand the fact that I was shooting a $1000 + rifle, when I could just use my mis matched K98's... At least I replaced it with a better gophenator, my G43... :D

Oh... and yes, it does make a nice pink mist outta squeaks! :)

2 more for the pile

March has been good to me. Loewe Berlin 1890 Gew 88 commission rifle, and a 1950 tgf mauser. The G88 is in very nice shape. I have found no evidence of Turkish markings on the rifle it's self. The wood has only a few blemishes. Unfortunately the bolt is mismatched to a Turk bolt. The tgf is in excellent shape, I suspect that it was fired very little.

Ross MKIII

Found this nice Ross MKIII here in town the other day. Clean and unmolested just how I like my Ross's. Originally issued to 16th Canadian Scottish Battalion, it then went aboard Britains HMS Canada, which went to Chile after the war Ross's and all, where it became DA190 (I also own DA98).
Both my DA's have matched bolts and bayonets.
Cheers
Geoff

Yeesh - that's a thing of beauty there! It always troubles me, knowing there are ross rifles lurking somewhere around where I am, and not being able to find them :p
