Qagvik(Wolverine) Defense choice ...

Personally I'd hunt with a short-legged Inuk. Pretty sure I could outrun one of those!

LOL big time @ BUM's comment ... sorry partner but this wee sheepshaggin' mukmuk would be gone and all you'd see was snow-dust ... :p

p.s. you see more and more around our region the past couple of years ... that whole BS about them being a treeline animal is crap!

This one was caught by a good friend recently ... :D

you can have a .50BMG and if you cant shoot, you cant kill.

I know I'm being pedantic, but I daresay that a poorly-placed shot with a .50 will kill, or at least solidly incapacitate, many living beings most of the time.

Nice fur on that animal. I'd like to have a prime pelt to trim a couple of parka hoods, and Wolverine fur is my fur of choice. If you know where I can get a Wolverine pelt, preferably tanned, let me know. Come to think of it, I'd like to get a Wolverine rug with a full head mount as well.

Unfortunately, I must digress to my proven bear defense technique of short shorts. As with a bear, the wolverine will have to run through two inches of slippery sh!t while I am running on dry ground. It can have the caribou. Of course this could backfire if the temperature is much below freezing.:(

I get a kick outta the people that talk about going hands on with a wolverine. I remember seeing one put an ass kicking on a good sized grizzly on discovery channel a few years ago. They can also allegedly chew through many of the more common metallic traps. So my vote is my grizzly loaded with Reduced recoil buck.

Looks like old Qagvik is layin' the hump to that carcass.

Dirty, dirty beastie!

HAHAHA ... good one BUM ... these wee buggers are beyond tough ... and yes they are bigger than you think ... ;) I hope to bag one this year ... :D

As I mentioned earlier, I highly recommend that the 'hands-on' people bring along someone with a video camera so we can all benefit from the experience (heh heh).

I would expect that a Wolverine would be faster than a Badger. When I was about 17 and could move pretty fast, I chased a big Badger down a dirt road. When I saw how fast he could run, I made sure I stayed a good distance behind him, but I was only moving just a tad slower than a flat out run. Now if a Badger can move almost as fast as a man can run, I figure a Wolverine could move faster than you could on foot, since it is significantly bigger than a Badger.

A guys gotta make a living somehow.... I still have all ten fingers! ;)

I just bought a head mounted video camera not too long ago for just that kind of footage. The working title for my movie will be "Grizzly Adams goes to the Rodeo". :D

As far as how tough are they? The lid to a wolverine live trap is about 200lbs of logs and a pregnant female bench pressed that open with her paws on loose snow! We used logs 12" in diameter go give us 24h of 'chew time' in between checking traps.

lclund1946- great photo!
