Meeting place for Newbies and Mentors -Ontario

:bangHead:

Me also, or north. Or anywhere within a few hours! Southern Ontario is :bangHead: a frustrating place for a gun owner. At least a fun gun owner...

I would like to get into Sharon Gun Club as it's close to my farm, but I don't see that happening...as far as I know they are full. Anyone here a member of Oshawa or Ajax and can give a little info on them? I just want to shoot rifles, maybe skeet.

I investigated Sharon almost 2 months ago. Thing is, even if you can find a share for sale privately, all safety courses for this summer are booked. You'll probably need to wait until next summer for their safety courses. That said, I was able to find someone that had a share for sale, but it's probably long gone now (drop in and check their bulletin board, maybe call them and someone maybe nice enough to tell you what's for sale!?). I couldn't justify paying $1k and cannot do anything for a year with it. Maybe in the future. Sharon is nice!

I just joined Target.

Yea that seems like a bit of a pain, and quite expensive! Target is REALLY close to home for me, but it's pretty close range isn't it? I'm more interested in 100-200 yards...

I only have 65 acres here, and though my neighbours don't mind occasional shots (i.e. for geese) I certainly don't feel like pressing the issue. I think perhaps I was born in the wrong century...:( Or country. After having spent quite a bit of time in Alaska I have a hard time not being able to blast my shotguns or rifles at my leisure. And having a new scoped and unfired (not sighted in yet!) rifle in my safe is getting to me!

soooooooo if a noob like me would like to get familiar with some fire arms, who do I talk to?
Though this is a good forum, it doesn't get read that much.
Greetings and intro area is a bit better.
If you see members who live in your area, you could p.m. them and see how they feel about meeting you at their club.
How 'bout dropping by your local club and getting to know some members?
Just a thought.

Newbie to Skeet

Hello: I see there has not been much action in this forum for quite some time. I am a newbie to Skeet here in Ontario and have only recently visited a local Skeet Club from an invite from a friend who is a competitive skeet shotter for quite some time.

I was wondering where are the best site to look for a used Browning or Beretta shotgun for skeet. I am not a hunter nor do I plan on hunting, strictly a sports shooter and perhaps in time with practice and technique, competitive.

I shoot in Oshawa. I like it there. No one notices me but if I need help or have a question there are lots that offer guideance. Depends where u are in Durham. I know a lot of guys in Brock whn just go to Haliburton

Which Oshawa club? I've had an offer to show me around one, but I haven't been able to get my act together to take a closer look.

Southern Ontario - Chatham Kent

Hi!

I've just finished taking my non-restricted and restricted safety courses and I plan on joining my local range and taking their pistol safety course.

I'm just looking for people who might be able to provide some information, experience and answer my really dumb questions ... Plus I'd like to have lots of experience before I make a major purchase and like anything else - experience is SO valuable in that regard.

Thanks!

Well, the Cloverleaf in Chatham does IDPA, Cowboy, PPC, and bullseye; 10 minutes down the road is Blenheim club; they also do IDPA and PPC. both clubs also do trap, Cloverleaf does skeet as well. The other Chatham club, Trails End, is primarily 200yard rifle.
