I am looking for a sling to get for my XCR, but know nothing about them?

from what I have read there is a 'two point sling' and 'one point sling'

just wondering what you guys use, and what you like?

what is the difference in functionality?

thanks for all the help

If you can drink the Magpul koolaid their MultiMission sling is a nice 1pt to 2pt convertible sling. I got mine from Wolverine at a very fair price. about $50.

The simplicity of the Magpul hardware (clips and loops) are what I based my decision on. It's minimalist yet fully functional....

(and my green laser, red laser along with the red-dot and magnifier + surefire don't get snagged in the webbing <kidding>)

I'm not a fan of the single point slings. They are ok if your are just standing there and need something to keep your rifle from spiking into the mud while you light up a smoke.
A nice two point sling is what I like for fighting your rifle, something that is quickly adjustable to cinch tight when transitioning to a pistol or when you need both hands fast.
The Blue Force Gear's Vicker's Combat Application Sling (CAS) is my choice. You can get yours from One Shot Tactical.

with my XCR am I able to attach a two point sling? or will I need to buy an attachment? (I have never used a sling before as I mentioned).
My XCR is standard, no modifcations

also, I am looking for a .223 mag pouch that I can attach to my standard
belt buckle

The XCR is an odd puppy. It comes with a single sling attachment point just behind the reciever, some of the various other XCR rear stocks may have other sling attachment points.
It doesn't have a front sling attachment point, so if you go with a two point sling, you will need an attachment that can go in your forward rail. There are tons of those on the market.

This is from the RobArm web site:
SLINGS

We get asked continually about slings. We will be making a sling adapter to go through the eyelet on the back of the receiver. This sling adapter will allow any most slings to be mounted on the eyelet. We do not recommend using a metal or plastic clip to attach a sling to the eyelet, especially if such hangs down and interferes with the charging handle slide.

For the front sling attachment point, choose a 1913 rail mounted type. These can purchased from many sources.

You'll need a sling mount for the front rail and one for the end of the reciever (which is a QD mount IIRC.)

I agree that correct use of a sling is in two point configuration. Single point is for carrying it around all cool or in certain CQB type scenarios.

FWIW I use the MMS in two point configuration when shooting.

When standing in front of the bedroom mirror I prefer single point. As long as you don't catch any short and curlys. > whoops thats going too far...

I was thinking for more out in the bush.
those of you who hunt etc with your XCR was sling config. do you find most confortable?

I prefer single point slings. I just let go of both my hands to transition to secondary. Mine has bungee on two sides so it pulls in tight when I drop it.

For your XCR I would get a Viking tactic sling and Daniel Defense QD rail mount for the front.

I like the CAA Tactical sling that Fabsports carries. It can configured many different ways. I believe Questar carries the same one. Pretty reasonably priced too. TC
