Ar-180b " let's see your rig"

About as wrong as you can be. The .308 "AR18" is the AR16 or AR17, can't remember exactly.

The original prototypes that were chambered in 7.62 NATO were the AR-16, though they never got past the testing stages before they were scaled down to become the AR-18. There's a very brief article on them on Gunpedia:

It's always been my plan to scale up a 180B to 7.62x51. The biggest problem I have is time. I'm 20 minutes from the shop, so not as easy to pop down in the evenings after supper for an hour or two. Then when the weekends come, last thing I want to do is sit in the shop all day.

I have so many projects and so little time.

Doe's armalite still sell all parts for the 180b? Would like to get another bolt carrier and bolt, aswell as guide rod assembly w/ springs. Anyone ever heard of any canadian shops bringing any 180b parts in? Thanks Mark

I looked at purchasing just an upper assembly, since I built an aluminum lower, but the pricing was so close to a full rifle is didn't make sense. If I recall, they wanted around $800 for a complete upper, if they could even get them in.

thanks Armedsask, who were u dealing with to bring the upper in, or were u talkin direct to armalite? If the whole upper went for say $450-$500 I would be in. In the manual they have all the parts listed with part#'s u think the would sell all the parts sepretly?
I have to talk to a couple of shops I guess....

Here's a pic Of someone's 180b I found w/ a pretty sweet paint job. Kinda wanna do a desert style paint but still kinda like just a black rifle.

I got the informal quote from Wolverine a couple years ago.

In looking around the net for articles on the AR-180B, I came across mention of this rifle - the Leader Dynamics Series T2 Mk5:

Apparently, Australia developed this design in the late 70's/early 80's to replace their Lithgow L1A1's, before they finally went with the AUG.

Though it's not technically an AR-18/180/180B, I figured I'd share my find.

Nice, What changes did you make to the gun... did some actually improve function for this application?
Man, this is what I want to do... I watch too many USA produced predator hunting videos and I always envy those guys and the AR guns they get to use.

This seems like an awesome and affordable "Canadian option", to live my dreams of predator hunting with an AR type semi-auto gun in Canada.
